There is a small tube that runs from the resin tank to the brine tank. That line clogs easily and prevents recharging. Mine has closed twice, once with a small rock that was believed to be a contaminant in the salt.

Your local Culligan dealer is the only place to get one. You need the retrofit kit to prevent the shaft of sealpack from bending.

Culligan water softener Mark 100. C5 code is on. Water softener is not working. What does this code mean?

The main piston is frozen up and needs to be replaced. It gets bent due to poor design. Culligan sells a rebuild kit for this that includes the piston, seal kit, brine refill piston and sleeve along with a new metal bracket to prevent the shaft on the main piston from bending and causing this issue again. There is also a new C clip for the drive gear on top.

Mark 89 continues to cycle. Unit is over 20 years old.

If it is stuck in 1 cycle (backwash for example) this generally means the piston in the sealpack is bent and has stuck in position. The sealpack has to be replaced. There is s retrofit kit that assures the piston can not be bent. These parts are available only at Culligan. Since the system is 20+ years old it may be time to consider replacing it at this point. You can get a Fleck 2510 sxt system that the Culligan was designed around.

If the unit will recharge then you might have what is called a salt bridge in the tank. The salt is stuck above the water level in the salt tank. Poor a gallon of water over the top of the salt and see if you can then break it up. The salt should go down then.

The brine tank on my Culligan Mark 89 softener is leaking. Where can I get a reasonably priced replacement?

Most Culligan brine tanks have a lifetime warranty.
Check with the dealer for a free replacement tank first before buying one.
