Connect front the sub out (single) on the amp to one of the rca inputs on the sub, This will work reasonably well but to make the most from the sub buy a 2 rca to 1 rca cable and use it to connect both rca inputs on the sub to the single output on the amp

How do I hook up a sansui sw120 sub woofer to onkyo sr507 amplifier

Hello, As long as this is a powered subwoofer you will plug it into the subwoofer preout. This is a purple analog connection on the back of the receiver. Thanks, FJD

Connecting powered subwoofer

The powered sub should only be connected to the unit if the amp has a socket for a powered sub. If the sub is connected via the normal speakers it could be triggering the protection. If it has no dedicated powered sub output. Then you will have to get an un-powered sub, which can be connected via the speakers connection and shouldn't trigger it.

I do not see any inputs to connect a subwoofer to my Onkyo A-9555 integrated amp. I would like to know if it is possible to connect it and what kind of subwoofer should I buy for that wit the best...

You amp has no OUTputs for a sub, but if you really want to attach a sub you'll need to get one that is self-amplified and accepts >>>stereo<<< High Level or Speaker Level inputs.

Otherwise your amp's volume control won't also control the sub's volume.

You would feed it full-range audio from the speaker terminals on your amp and its internal amp would use that to develop its own power output for the sub.

Here's one example.

When I hook up the speakers in the back to the left and right side for the in and out, do I connect the front or rear speakers. do the speakers connect to the subwoofer first then to my receiver or the...

I was trying to find an owner's manual or picture of the rear panel of the sub, but had no luck. The subwoofer is a powered type - or "active" speaker. This means it has a built in amplifier. These active subs usually provide for one or both "low level" and "high level" inputs. Low level signals are usually carried by shielded coaxial cables and have RCA type plugs on the end. The low level is also called "line level". This is an un-amplified signal that might be heard on cheap earphones - but that's about it. It is similar to the output of a tape deck, DVD or phonograph. These signals require an amplifier to be heard. If you have a sub woofer output on your receiver or amplifier, you could run a patch cable between the low level input on the subwoofer and the subwoofer output of the amp or receiver. You receiver or amp may call this output "low frequency effects" or similar. The front and rear speakers would then connect directly to the receiver or amp's corresponding connections.

If you lack low level outputs on the amp or subwoofer, you'll need to run speaker wires from the amplifier or receiver's front left and right speaker output terminals to the subwoofer's high level input terminals. High level signals are speaker connections or amplified signals. These are typically connections that accept bare wire connections. The front speakers would then connect to the subwoofer's front left and right speaker output terminals. The rear speakers connect to the amplifier.

I hope this helps - and good luck!

Onkyo M-282

check your amplifier output speaker impedance requirements..
example: 8 ohms...build a speaker 8 ohms in parallel or series connection..
check the impedance using ohmeter ..you must reach the required impedance..

use 1 cell battery to check if you speakers are in-phase...if one speaker did not ..reverse connection and check again ...to give the good sound...hope you understand my english..:)

I have 1 center channel pre-out on back of my kenwood receiver. how do i hook it to the inputs on onkyo m-282 amp and then to center channel speaker?

Unfortunately can't connect it that way. The pre out is only meant to go directly into an amplifier that has all of the same inputs (front/rear, center and surround), not a standard receiver. (Pre amp to amp only, not pre amp to receiver) If your Onkyo doesn't have all the same inputs as your Kenwood preamp has outputs you will just use your standard left/right outputs from the Kenwood to your Onkyo input (CD, Tape, Phono,DVD etc) then use the outputs (front/rear, center and surround) from your Onkyo receiver and connect directly to your speakers..

What kind of amplifier and other accessories are recommended for bose 901 speakers

I would recommend a high power 2-channel amplifier, minimum 16 guage speaker wire, and of course the Bose 901 active EQ that matches the series of your speakers. I use a Yamaha mx-830 power amp & cx-830 pre amp 170 wpc They (Bose) claim that they're unlimited power handling, But if you use a amplifier with to little power and overdrive it to make it louder, you could damage the speakers or amp. With my 170 watt class A amp,the 901 series 6 will blow wind across the room. Go with the best amp you can afford! best for money- Yamaha,Denon,Onkyo!
