The most likely cause of this is that you have accidentally changed the screen aspect ratio. There should be a button on the Panasonic remote marked "ASPECT". With the TV switched on, try pressing the "ASPECT" button repeatedly until the picture either returns to the correct size or you are unsuccessful and cycle back to the original picture size.
You will probably find that you are currently on one of the "ZOOM" settings. The correct setting should either be "AUTO" or "16:9".
If this does not solve your problem, please post back for further assistance. If you are using another receiving device, e.g. a Sky / FreeSat or Freeview box, it is also possible that you need to change the ratio setting of the receiving equipment. Please let me know the details of any additional receiving equipment you are using if/when replying.
you can set the aspect on either remote. the best thing to do is set the proper aspect on the tv remote for regular (sd) channels, and then again for hd channels. the tv should remember these aspect settings and revert to them when you switch back and forth from sd to hd. if you have satelite, there is usually another aspect on there you can change depending on the program, but i usually recommend leaving it alone. if you are on an hd channel with side bars, switch to the sd version instead of changing aspect so you dont have to keep flipping it back and forth.
The remote has a button on it marked pic size, aspect or zoom. You may be able to access it the through the menu button on the set. You can download the operation manual from the Panasonic web site. You can also order the remote from that site.
You really dont need the remote all changes are accessible from the controls on top of the machine.
If you select the menu button then picture you will notice that the 'Aspect Ratio' is greyed out. What you wiil need to to do to make this operable is to connect your video/dvd device.Once the projector is through searching and picture is set up you will find that you are able to make changes to the Aspect Ratio. ie highlight and then hit the select button to select native 16;9 or 4;3
try turning off the power and while plugging into the power again hold down up and down on the unit (not remote) for 30 to 40 seconds and release. should reset unit. also check that you dont have an update if you do instal it from http://av.jpn.support.panasonic.com/support/global/cs/dvd/download/ex88/index.html
this should fix any problems with a firmware problem.
I called Hitachi and the solution is in your cable remote not your tv remote. Your tv has a aspect menu as does your cable remote. Based on your cable provider you should have a settings or menu button to change the zoom or aspect of your screen. I had the same problem and have Comcast as cable and this worked for me.
Dear RyanVa21; Try changing the picture size with your set's remote, press the aspect ratio button. The remote must be the original Panasonic remote. Please let me know if that did it.
Normallly, if the picture size button on the remote for the television does not achieve the desired affect, then, a cable box or a satelite box is where the change needs to be made.
For example:
A Motorola Cable box needs to be set up to go to a wide screen or zoom when an analog signal is detected.
Some Dish Network boxes have Size buttons on their remotes and also in their main menu.
It's difficult to determine the repair without knowing the types of the peripherals.
Hope this helps.
