Cassette Player Stopped Working

I put a cassette tape into the player to try and make a mixed tape from tracks on a cd. When i put the tape in the machine it started making a weird noise, so i thought i the tape in the wrong direction. I then tried the other tape deck to see if i did put the tape in the wrong way, and i didnt and that player wouldnt play either. I could not open the first tape deck, the recording side one, and had to force the door open to get the tape out. I tried again and this time the tape didnt get stuck but it still wont play or record, but it does acknowledge that a tape is in the machine by switcing to the tape mode.

Put tapes in both tape 1 and tape 2. They played fine but now I cannot open the tape "doors" to remove the tapes. They are stuck shut.
    What should I do?

In all likelihood the Drive belts have snapped. Get them replaced.

After running approx. 25 tapes the player stopped working

Hi Ian.

Judging by reviews on Amazon, you're not alone in having trouble with the cassette player, which has multiple people decrying the quality of the unit
Audio Recorder 3 0 Plus with Cassette Player

That said, if the player hasn't just had some sort of internal mechanical failure, I'd recommend opening it up and gently turning the tape capstains with your fingers to see if they'll move. Try turning the player on with the door open but no tape inside to see if anything even spins. If there's been a mechanical failure, you're likely out of luck - cassette tape decks these days are getting rarer. If you're lucky, perhaps a bit of tape or some other debris has jammed up one of the capstains. In that case, you may be able to clean it up and see if it works then. If you've gone through the tapes fairly quickly, I'd suggest just returning the unit (your credit card likely as not has warranty-extensions built in if it's close on the warranty).

There are other tape decks out there, with a wide range of price, and, likely, quality, with USB out to let you play tapes to your PC. You may be able to use other options from there to get your tapes transferred.

Hoping this helps. Happy Holidays

How do I record from a tape cassette to a cd?

You cannot, with this device. It doesn't have a CD-burner... those are usually only found in VERY high end audio systems, or on home computers. That said, you can find devices on the internet that will let you rip audio tracks from a cassette player to an MP3 file, which you can then burn to a CD or put on your computer.

Casstte Player- '94 ford

I think you are saying you are using a cassette adapter to play the external iPod/PSP etc. and I presume the cassette plays regular tapes OK. The auto-reverse cassette player thinks the 'tape' is over, so reverses then ejects. You can try putting in a regular tape, change sides then eject. Try the adapter again. Hopefully the adapter will work in 'one' direction.

Recording Speed

the tascam 414 is a 4 track recording studio which uses standard cassette tapes- meaning they only play in one direction, because the tape is full. The 414 records at double speed so that recording fidelity is increased. When you have made a recording you want to mix you then dub your recording though the outputs into another standard tape recorder or whatever you have available, be it a cd recorder or your PC. So, when you listened to your recording on a standard tape player, you were not only hearing it at half speed but you were only listening to 2 of the 4 tracks. The other tracks would only be heard if you flipped the tape over, and they would be heard running backward. I would have though the 414 had a swich to allow it to also record at standard speed to but I guest it does not.

Cassette player not working

Cassette players usually have a little rubber band that connects the motor to the spindles. If everything else is fine, I would suggest seeing if it slipped off somehow (or got cracked and snapped)
