when you turn it on, can you hear the compressor running?

  • Anonymous Mar 14, 2012

Yes,I can hear it buzzing......this happened before, and repair guy just used a hairdryer to defrost the water pipe in the fridge section, after 48 hours it was just the same, then another chap came and said the gas has gone and he replaced it....9 months on,the same problem has come back. I defrosted the whole unit for 4 days, switched it back on.....fridge ok,but freezer is not working still?

SOURCE: water leak

probably the defrost drain blocked. remove back panel from inside freezer and melt ice off with hairdryer and follow up with hot water till water flows away freely.
you may find all the pipework iced up and if so you have a problem with defrost system.
an alternative way is to switch off for 24 hours and leave doors open

SOURCE: frost free fridge/freezer - not cold in fridge

The most common problem with refrigerators not cooling when the freezer cooling is the fan which supplies cold air to the freezer. Not easy to get to in most cases. Another problem is the vent to the fridge part is blocked or not operating with the adjustment control.

Where is the evaporator fan motor? My Freezer and fridge would quit cooling/freezing. I took the back panel off in the freezer a week ago and the evaporator coils were completely frozen over with ice. I...

I do not believe the problem is the fan. sounds like the frig. is low on Freon this is what will cause the ice build up. you need to find the leak, you can do this by spraying soapy water on coil tubes & watch for bubbles. repair leak & recharge.

Vapor coming from bottom of inside freezer and water to dispenser frozen

The most common cause of this is a dirty condenser coil. Find the condenser coil for the unit , it will be under the freezer, in the back or ,in some models, on top. It will have a fan behind it. Shut of the unit and clean it. First with a paint brush to remove heavy dirt, then with a spray coil cleaner--this may get dirty, so be prepared with a mop. Clean it thoroughly without getting electrical components wet. (If you get anything electrical wet, make sure you allow ample time to dry before energizing it).

Frigidaire won't make ice & dispenses only about 4 oz. cold water

Water frozen in the freezer supply line - you need to thaw out the freezer. About six hours, door open, turn freezer OFF. You'll need a cooler with dry ice for your frozen food. 99% certain it'll work after that.

Items in freezer melting, Ice maker empty, fridge feeling warm

hi there,

you have 2 problems:

frist check the freezer thermostat and make sure that it's set to at least 5 or 6. if that is okay and you still have this problem, you may need to have the thermostat replaced and maybe more.

as far as the icemaker, if it's just the ice part that does not work, i would recommend checking the valve and water line coming into the icemaker.

can you tell me if this is a side by side or a top or bottom mount freezer? if you have the model #, that would be great.
