Panasonic DVD players have five 0 when you first insert the disc. If none or just 1 of these light up then you have a problem with the motor. I'm guessing that your spindle motor has seized. This is a pretty common problem on Panasonic DVD players. These mechanism require aligning so don't go pulling apart without a service manual to help re-align the mechanism.

Get a lens cleaning disc and try to clean the laser lens first. If that doesnt help, your going to need to have the unit serviced.

Disc read err

Looks to me you can put in a variety of disks, But to make sure it is not just a disk that was in the sun or so, try it with a bought DVD. If that still giving problems, you could try to clean the laser, with a special cleaning CD / DVD.
Special if someone smokes in the car.

Mpio dvd player 1700pdvx says disc not ready no matter what disk I put in

Likely either a dirty optical pickup or a bad one--if bad usually cheaper to replace the entire unit.

When i put a disc into my portable dvd player it says cannot read disc... it will read cd's but not dvd's do i need to replace the lens?

Try using a DVD cleaning disk in the player first. If this does not fix the problem. The chances are that the calibration is off and you will have to have it serviced at a repair center. How old is the unit, what is the model number and where are you located?

Hi, my philips dvd player model number dvp3360/05 has stopped reading disks. Wjen it loads a disk instead of going to the start screen it just goes blank and on the LED display it says title. Any ideas on...

Hello,

There are several reasons why your DVD player would stop reading discs.
1. Bad or dirty lens
2. Bad disc spinner motor
3. Busted capacitors on the mailboard

If you can open up your DVD player. Try to check for these problems.

No disc error even with DVD inside the player

I am sure that you have tried using another DVD.
Try putting a Music CD and see if it can read it.
In any case, even if the CD works, it looks that you have a faulty unit the laser on the drive is probably bad now but just in case it is just dirty, try to clean it with a Cleaning Disk and see if the problem disappear.

Check disc

Is the surface or your disk smudged or damaged? If not, try a lens cleaner CD or kit and see if the problem goes away. If they are DVD Rs or something similar(DVD-RAM, DVD+R, ETC) the player may not be able to play that particular format, and you should double check the instruction manual to see what types of disks can be read.
