From the back of my Mitsubishi Owners Manual, Appendix A

"Bypassing the V-Chip Lock
After you set the lock, you need your passcode to view a V-Chip locked program, view the locked TV, cancel the lock, or enter the V-Chip Lock menus.

If you forget your passcode, you can view the locked TV without entering your passcode. This is done by pressing the number 9 and QV buttons on the TV remote control at the same time when your passcode is requested. This process temporarily unlocks the TV.

When entering the V-Chip lock menu, this process deletes your old passcode and prompts you to enter a new passcode. Pressing HOME at this time will cancel the entire passcode."

I hope that helps you.

Bypass V-Chip Mitsubishi TV

Bypassing the V-Chip Lock on most Mitsubishi sets:
Mitsubishi sets use a four-digit passcode that is required to view a V-Chip locked program, view the locked TV, cancel the lock, or enter the V-Chip lock menus.
If you don't have the passcode, it is easy to bypass. This is neccessary if you forgot the code, purchased the set used, or if you simply don't feel like searching through your files to find it.

To bypass the V-chip: You can view the locked shows by pressing the number 9 and QV buttons on the remote at the same time, whenever your passcode is requested. This process temporarily unlocks the TV.

To reset the code: When you use the button combination 9 and QV while entering the V-Chip Lock menu, this process deletes your old passcode and prompts you to enter a new passcode.

Hi,

As long as you remember the "CODE" The child lock on a TV is a wonderful thing.

The lock sometimes causes unwanted trouble--if it gets accidentally turned on and you don't know the code, you can find yourself unable to fully enjoy the full range of available television stations. Please apply the following possible 5 different solutions taht verified by different users and than hopefully you'll be back to watching regular TV ....

  1. Bring Up TV Menu ; Power on the television with the activated child lock on. Push the "Menu" button on the remote control. A series of features appears on the screen, ranging from the overall TV functions to the video display and the audio setup features ,Choose "Options" and a new menu appears on the screen. From the new menu select "Child Lock." The exact setup selection is going to vary slightly, although the child protection is always referred to as either "Child Lock" or "V-Chip." The V-chip is the actual chip built into the television that blocks out certain television programming.
  2. Try a "factory reset" action... This should be somewhere in the TV menu system. However Please note that will clear everything, so you may need to re-program every things..the channels etc.
  3. Hold the lock key in the remote for few seconds . you will get the lock tool bar . you can unlock it there
  4. Hold the display button on the remote for 10 seconds.
  5. As a The last solution which is common for all TV sets..
    • Try to find the User manual for your television. The section In the manual about how to set the child lock feature will also explain how to unlock it.
    • Try a few "universal methods" for unlocking the child lock. Some televisions have a universal code built in for disabling the child lock --no matter what your code is. A commonly used code is "0000."
    • Unplug your television for at least 1 hour . The internal memory battery of the TV is what helps remember what your code. When TV is unplugged for an extended period of time, it clears the internal memory, which in turn will reset your child lock code back to "0000 " again...
if the problem still continues you have to email to : http://www.akaiusa.com/

Hope this helps!

Lost the remote to what was my daughter's sanyo dp19649 and I have shows rated TV14 and up blocked! We moved the tv to our room and can't watch anything now! Is there a reset button or something?

Hi, these parental controls are handled by the tv's V chip and can only be cleared using the password that you first set, instructions can be found on the 'downloads' tab HERE on page 23 & 24 of the owners manual, page 24 shows how to clear the V-Chip using the 4 digit code.

If you cant remember the code try entering '9999' to reset the lock.

Here <----- is the direct link for the PDF file if you want to save the manual to your computer just right click and select 'Save link as' or 'Save as' and save it somewhere you can find it easily like the desktop.

Hope this helps.

How to change the v chip code to a mitsubishi medallion projection tv 62

Good luck, and let us know how you made out with this TV set.

How to erase parental control code

I finally found out how to reset the V-chip password on this princess DT1350-P Tv. All you have to do is turn the TV on and turn to a channel that doesn't prompt the V-chip password (even if it's snowy) and hold down the volume (down -) button on the main unit while holding down the number "0" on the remote control. It might take a few tries, and you might need to change the TV channel for some reason but if done correctly, either the TV will turn off, or the menu screen will pop up and ask if you want to set the vchip password, either way you should be able to watch your TV now! :)
