Question about Panasonic CQ-VD7001U Car DVD Player
I took my truck in for service, my unit asked for the ID code when they finished and since I didn't have my remote I just hit the power button thinking I could do it when I got home. Big mistake!! Now the unit turns on, but the screen is blank and will not come back. I used the reset button, checked all power connection and fuses but to no avail. I even disconnect my battery thinking it would reset again but no luck. Have u ever heard of this happening with this model. Panasonic was no help either, they just referred me to a repair shop. Thanks in advance for any assistance u can provide! BTW, my truck is a Nissan Armada if that helps any. Thanks again!
I had the same problem before. I thought the mechanic broke my radio. The power button will not work on the radio, right? I couldn't turn it on or off, but the blue lights stayed on all the time. What I found out is that I had to put a new battery in my remote because it died at the exact same time. Crazy, huh? But anyways, you have to use the power button on the remote or else it will stay black forever. Once you turn the unit on with the remote, it will prompt you to enter your password. Like guest said before, if you didn't set your password before, then the default code is 0000. I hope you get that thing working!! -kev

To fix blank screen, push and hold joystick to right for 10 sec. keep holding then press the power/MODE button. this will work it will also reset factory default code to 0000 the remote is needed to set new code. GOOD LUCK.

Had the same problem as the original post. Solution 5 was key--had a dead battery in remote--but code was NOT reset to 0000. 10 sec on joystick to right & power button on remote brought the unit back to life and we used the code we had set to unlock.

You NEED the remote to input the pin code. If you didn't set a code, the default is 0000. hope this helps

Your unit has power but is not turning on, you need the remote to turn it on to get to the code screen again. not sure why but mine does this too. luckily i have the remote.

ID-CODE
ID Code Setting
Prior to operating this unit, it is advisable to assign a 4-
digit ID code for security. Once the ID code has been set,
the unit cannot be operated if the main power supply is
disconnected then re-connected. It is electronically locked
so that a thief cannot use the stolen unit unless that person
knows the code you have set.
The ID code operation must be performed only by the
person to whom the unit belongs.
Generally, it is not necessary to enter the ID code each
time when using the unit if it has not been disconnected
from the main power supply (car battery).
to 4 digits numeric code
default: none
How to set your ID code (for the first time)
q Enter an 4 digit ID code.
w Enter the same 4 digit ID code again.
How to change your ID code
q Enter the preset (old) 4 digit ID code. If the wrong ID
code is entered, a new ID code cannot be registered.
w Enter a new 4 digit ID code.
e Enter the new 4 digit ID code again.
How to cancel the known ID code
q Enter the preset (old) 4 digit ID code. If the wrong ID
code is entered, it is not possible to cancel the ID code
function.
w Touch and hold until "COMPLETED!" is displayed.
The ID code canceling procedure is completed.
The unit now works without an ID code.
Note:
¡Should your unit ever require service, cancel your ID
code before sending for repair.
¡The ID code setting cannot be eliminated even by the
memory clear function.
¡The inputted code is not displayed for your security.

Caution
¡Record your registered ID code and keep it in a

i want to use my panasonic dvd player but it wont show anything on the screen
Thanks for trying fellas but none of the above works. Just to clarify, my screen is blank. I do not see any login or code entry screen. The unit powers on (face plate lights & monitor can open & close) but the screen will not turn on. Thanks again for all replys.

I haven't used my radio for about a year and i test powered it before i completed the install ( log-in screen came up normal ) and after i shut it off (and removed power supply ) i finished the install the screen now stays black. (on test power i didn't log-in), so tonight ill be buying a new battery for the remote and see if that works.
