Hey i was wondering if there was a way to control my ilo dvd player with another controler. The reason why is because my original controler doesnt work any more, only certain buttons work and i dont know why!So if their is a way to control the dvd player can you please let me know. Thank you
My son knocked batteries out of Philips remote and I had to reprogram it. I wish I had the numeric code..I finally got it with the channel buttons. I think I may have used the code search by brand for ALL to reset it..Keep trying. I swear it works its just tough to get it programmed.
In regard to best solution by "guest", what did you do after the 300th push? I finally got there too and the channel did change but that was it. It did not program the remote to work properly. It changed only one channel, then i push mute. then nothing. please help.
I too tried dozens of universal remotes over the years and none worked at all, TILL YESTERDAY. A guy at Walmart said use the Philips brand. Not sure, I tried. SRU3004, it doesn't do everything (like eject) but does let you into the Source (input button) and navigate to the record settings(sleep button), and power etc. The unit is worthless without a remote. Maybe there is another Philips product that has more I dunno. OH, and the code listed didn't work. I had to do the manual search and it was like the 300th push on the power button so don't give up too quick. I couldn't believe it worked!!!!!
I think you are out of luck, unless you can find someone else who owns one, and will let you use their controller to program a learnable remote.
I have purchased, and returned dozens of universal remotes...not one has worked.

I also have an iLO DVDRHD04. I recently purchased the Philips remotes at Wal-Mart and they have the code for the iLO. You'll have to play with it a bit, but all the functions will work, even though they will not be labled in the same fashion as the original remote. I had to just press buttons and make notes until I got it figured out...but it will work.
You're not trying to use the "Tuner" in the ILO are you? Bypass it and use the A/V cables from the "out" of the converter box. I think mine also has the coax type cable from the "to tv" to the ILO, then from the "to tv" on the ILO to the television. Either way should work. Mine works great, its a zenith and I have successfully recorded to discs in my ILO. Just change the Source back to the DVD source to watch a dvd or select the corresponding A/V connections that are hooked to your convertor box to watch/record television.
Almost no universal controls work on this unit. I only have found one out of dozens. Its a philips, code is 1906 but I tried it on other remotes and it doesn't work on them. Calling Leapfrog is probably your best bet.
Does the disc still play in other dvd player? My ILO has always been picky to play rentals so I just have a cheap COBY player hooked up to front inputs of my ILO. I use it to watch the dvds, only use the Ilo to record. Saves wear and tear on my ILO but cannot find a universal remote to operate them both and my tv. If it still records okay thats what I would do, just watch the discs in a secondary unit. Sounds like time to start shopping for new recorder.
Just run your outputs from your cable to the ILO inputs, then your ilo ouputs to the tv inputs. Use Cable remote to control channels, use ILO source button on remote to access the correct input setting on ILO. AND YES< you have to do this EVERY TIME you turn the ILO on to watch tv.. I have mine hooked up this way to record from my convertor box and My husband hates it.(when he just wants to watch tv.)
