My washing machine stopped tumbling and/or spinning, it sound as though it is trying to do something but it is not. Could it just be a belt? Thanks
Snaggs, If your model number begins with 417 it could be a couple of issues. Start with the drain pump. Remove the bottom panel and see if the pump is clogged with coins or debris. It will be on the right. Check the pump impeller. Have a bunch of towells handy as you will have a lot of water coming out at you. When you drop the bottom panel you will be able to see if the belt is on in back. If this does not clear up the problem, more than likley it will be in the motor control board. Catriver...post back.
My washer fills up with water but does not turn or agitate, i goes thru the whole cycle but never agitates. this washer is fairly new and in great condition other than this problem. Any help and advice would be much appreciated. thanks
My kenmore model 41748102701 tumble action washer will not dipense the fabric softener now its still in the tray . The soap does dispense.
Our washer, almost 6 yrs. old would pump but wouldn't spin. I took the back cover off to check the motor and discovered one of the wires in the harness (opposite of the motor plug) was broken at the plug. This was a motor winding conductor. Luckly, I was able to remove the pin from the plug, open the top crimp, strip the wire and solder it back to the pin. Don't forget to re-crimp the top of the pin over the insulation.

It appears your clutch assembly has failed in this instance.
For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...
FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.
PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.
If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.
Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.
If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.
