HTX-202 (190-1120) Error Codes Faxback Doc. # 15722 Your transceiver has two error code displays. Refer to the following for an explanation of each error code. Er1: INTERNAL RAM ERROR Er1 indicates the transceiver has detected an error in its battery-backed up operation memory. This is the most commonly caused by a low lithium backup battery, but can also be caused by static discharge, or a physical shock. To clear the error-- 1. Turn off the unit. 2. Press FUNCTION and CLR (the D key). 3. While holding these keys, turn unit on. This will reset unit and clear memories. If the transceiver frequently displays the error, have the battery replaced by an authorized Radio Shack service center. ER2:PLL UNLOCK ERROR Er2 indicates the transceiver's PPL section has unlocked. Have the transceiver repaired by an authorized Radio Shack service center. (/ir-07/31/95)

since this is a fairly new radio, your only resource is your manual and schematic.
As a Ham you should be able to read them. If you are thinking of installing an aftermarket mic, you don't do this on most ham radios, they are not CBs that you can put a "power mic" on. too much audio input on an FM transceiver can make your transmission unintelligible

Are you getting any errors when you turn it on?

Usually if you are having an issue like that you will get an error. I have a old Radio Shack HTX 404 that the battery that keeps the memory "alive" is shot, so if I turn it off for more than an hour it loses everything. But when I power it on....it throws an error at me before I do the reset.

You have all the making of not enough power to operate the radio and it shuts down to protect itself. Hook the power leads directly to the battery terminals and keep the leads as short as possible. The more wire you have the more resistance and the more resistance the less volts your radio can see. Also be certain you have a good ground connection

This is an Amateur (Ham) Radio 2-meter Transceiver. It will only transmit on the 2-meter Amateur band (144-148 MHz) but has expanded receiver coverage from 136-174 MHz which includes Public Service and Commercial 2-Way Radio bands. Please note that an Amateur License is required to operate on the 2-meter Amateur Band.

The Yaesu FT1900R is an Amateur (Ham) Radio 2-meter Transceiver. Although the receiver covers from 136-174 MHz, will only transmit from 144-148 MHz. Please note that you do need an Amateur (Technician Class or above) License to transmit on the 2-meter Amateur Band. You no longer need to pass a Morse Code test to get an Amateur License. You still have to pass a written exam, but that isn't difficult if you are willing to study a bit. bad speaker or external speaker jack is broken

this is what happened when the CPU's went on these units, radio shack replaced so many & never actually fixed the real problems
