We put clean clothes in dryer (Whirlpool LEC8858D Clean Touch) and some of them come out with dark spots and need to be rewashed. Most frequent location is on the tip of shirt collars.
I picked the specific product below because it is probably similar to my older unit.
It could be rust build up from the water but it is possible that the felt seal on your dryer is bad. If so, then you may need to replace the felt drum seals.
It could be grease, if the drum in your dryer is not turning in a perfect circle. Therefore is catching your clothes between the drum and the opening.

Check the fit of the agitator to the bottom of the drum. After this many years, it may have warped up to make a gap. Run a rag around the joint to see if it marks.

The brown stains are likely coming from the felt drum seal. The OEM adhesive is tar based - and after time and use - breaks down.
You'll need a new felt seal - and the adhesive that is used should be silicone based... eliminating the brown streaks.
