Question about Akai PT4298HD Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Blue Line Our TV is three years old. All of a sudden it has a fairly large blue line running vertically down the center. We have no idea what this is or how to go about fixing it. Is this a repairable problem? The only thing we know about projection tv is that we have heard bulbs got out. Does this problem sound like a bulb issue? Appreciate any and all information. Thanks.

I have the very same issue, except for me it is a red line. The line looks like a permanent magic marker line on the backside of my screen. There is also a small drop at the top of the screen above the line. The line is perfectly in the center from left to right. I have been told by others that it may be an "overlap" issue which can be adjusted. It was after replacing the convergence board that the problem came about. I have tried two new convergence boards and the problem still persists. Is this something that can be adjusted? Do I need to get a calibration DVD to help me through? Any ideas?

Sorry no bulb issue here. theres a vertical sweep issue though. if your not a tech i wouls sugest that you find a good one as this is a solid state set and there are no user replaceable parts inside, so you cannot service yourselfs unless your trained to do so. please seek out a trained tech to assist you in this repair.

My Sony Bravia KDL 40WL 135 TV has been flashing strange colors for awhile; today screen is black with a thin blue line across the bottom. No sound. Any help appreciated.

The vertical output section circuit has the fault. Contact any experienced service technician. This is not a user repairable fault.

Blue shadows/ghosts

how old is the tv ??
if this tv is older than 5 years it may need to refill the liquid on the proyection bulbs and/or could have contaminats in the fluid causing the ghost and to fix that you will need a professional person to do it

I have a vertical blue line....left of center

If it is narrow you have a dead pixel problem. If so contact HP for advice. Three year warranty on screens and they usually swap out for failures. Very common problem.

Vertical, pencil-thin blue line appears after 10 minutes of viewing (any source)

I would suspect a connection breaking down as the set heats up. A shop will probably have to put the set in a stand to hold it while they check for loose connections or defective components inside. Not a DIY job by any means. If this line went completely through the picture either vertically or horizontally and stayed there then this would have indicated a failure in the Panel itself. A thin Line any where on the screen consisting of one pixel in width is a Panel Failure according to Hitachi.
