Tv pictures suddenly goes dark blue

Tv picture will suddenly go blue and somewhat dark. After some time sometimes seconds, sometimes minutes, the picture will return to normal for awhile and then go through the blue issue again

no factory warranty...no extended warranty either. :(

Let me guess...it will be several hundreds to fix.

Replacement might be better?

I have the EXACT same problem. I have a Samsung TX-S3082wh. Have you fixed yet?

The tube could be going out. Do you have a warranty on that?

I don't think you had backlight issues like you thought you did as the set should have shut down the backlights totally as soon as it sensed over voltage or over current, I'd try a new main board and see if that fixes things up for you

The tv works fine then all of a sudden will go to an all blue screen. I turn it off and on again and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes just letting sit fr a bit and the picture

change the blue drive output transistor...

Picture brightens then darkens

Trying with a DVD will rule the tuners in the set in or out and also suggest a setting in the set or a box if used is causing this issue.

You may have a bad comb filter or one of the CRT's (picture tubes)(cathod ray tube), are going bad. Call an Authorized Service Center and have them come to your home and give you a written estimate b4 repair. Cost AVG $550.00, if CRT is bad go shopping.

Faulty lamp could be, there is also a little blue switch behind the lamp door that needs to be in the down position.

Same problem as this poster

i had a similar problem and it ended up being the bulb. The indicator light never lit up but after i replaced th bulb I checked to see how many hours where on the bulb and it was over 8100. they state the bulbs are only good for 6000. when i replaced it ($140 on ebay) everything was fine.

Next time it goes dark do a flash light test to see if your inverter board is fubar.
