all radios like your has two power inlets one is battery and the other is Acc or Ing. The battery line keeps power in the radio after you turn off your car both lines must work for the radio to turn on it sounds like a resister burn out thats why your face plate was warm.

2 common faults, either the disc is not loading fully
into the cd mechanism or the laser is dirty or failing.
To resolve the fault the unit will have to be removed
from car and inspected on bench. Obviously there
are can be alot of other reasons why the cd has failed,
you will require a reasonable background in electronics to
trace and repair.

Laser Lens Cleaner. Looks like a regular CD, but it uses soft brushes that clean the lens. The better quality ones use fluid as well. You can find them in just about every retail store that sells CD's/DVD's or electronics. Chances are your transport has a problem or the lens is out of align. There is no fix for this, they just put a new transport in the unit it's less expensive. Hope this helps
