Re: complete shut down
Hi, only thing thats worth trying is switch the pc on and keep pressing F8 a menu should appear select Safe Mode. and see if it works, if it dont, im afraid you will require a windows disk.
if you do get it loaded in safe mode, post a message i will get you to try a few other things to fix the problem..

get under the vehicle (use ramps) and check all linkages for movement pull push on the anti roll bar links, pull push on steering rack and pinion and linkages, any excessive movement, jack each wheel at a time, using a bar check the lower wishbone joints for movement, get the bar in the gap between the wishbone and lower part of the shock. and pull down, if any movement in ball joint up and down replace. while wheel on vehicle check for movement in bearing you will feel a tiny amount not much but pull and push on wheel with opposite hands on 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock and do the same at 9 and 3. now with both wheels off the ground but with the tyres still on, have some one holed one wheel and push pull on wheels each side there should be even movement between both wheels, if everything is fine with the the steering linkages and this dose not feel or sound right then this could be the problem also to add if the inside and out side of the tyres are wearing then the tyre pressure is wrong and needs adjusting to the right tyre pressure .
yeah I'll give you the best suggesstion since you have just bought your acer notebook take it back to the store and have them re-installl windows for you, since its just been two days they will do anything for you
It may sound weird but I would recommend to install Win XP Pro instead of Vista, when you have the right to do so(Original CD!) This might rid you of some errors and slow downs.
Concerning Vista and probale virus infection:
I dunno what you have caught, but some viruses tend to infect even the Master boot record and backcopy into clean systems, so when setting up a new system, just use clean CDs, before installing any other devices than the most necessary, do get an anti-virus (like A-squared, Avira or such) software on CD and scan without accessing the web. Then see if you still have these problems coming.
For further assistance do not hesitate to come back to fixya.
Your cooling fan sounds to have went out, causing it to overheat and shut down.It also could be something in the fan stopping it from turning.Try cleaning it or blowing it out with it off.But it mostly sounds to have went out.
If you know how to open it up and get to the power supply you will find three capacitors 2-820uf and 1-330 @ 25vdc 105o.they will have puffed up tops replace them. FYI the monitor has a 3 year warranty.
If you still have the files on your pc and just use the drive as a backup, then there is nothing lost yet, and no need to recover, just return to retailer.
But if there is any sign of life, check; Right Click My Computer>Properties>Device Manager>Hardware, see if your Drive is in the list, if not, on top right there is an icon for scan for new hardware.
See if your PC can find your drive, if not return it.
