Question about Samsung PLK405 40 in. Rear Projection Television
My PLK405 is between 5 and 6 years old and the last few months the tv would go out once in awhile and then I would shut it off and open the fan area etc and get it to come on. Now when I turn it on I get the lamp light to flash a couple of times and then all three lights in the front do a continual flash. I am hoping it is just the lamp as I can uy one of those online cheap enough (and it would be just about replacement time). However, if I need to invest in a repair call and a lamp, etc. then it may not be worth it versus buying a new set. Does anyone know if all three lamps flashing is the code for a bad lamp (or more)? Can I safely replace the lamp myself without dealing with high voltage risk? (I am not a technician but not totally without an electronic IQ). Thanks!
Looking at the lamp itself can give a very good idea of its condition,You should be able to remove the lamp safely from its compartment because you will not be close to the high voltage but make sure the set is totally unplug from the wall. There might other reason but the lamp is a good place to start.
