Question about Philips 9P6040C 60" Rear Projection Television
Hello, We were given a lovely 60" PM 9p6040 c102 60" television that does not work. I have seen this problem reported a few times over the Net but no solutions as of yet. The green light on the front of the TV comes on when you press "Power On". It is steady and does not flash. There is no indication of power-up otherwise. There is no sound. There is no picture. This apparently happened suddenly when the prior owners were watching television - it just "died" in the middle of their program. We have tried various "soft resets" by unplugging and letting it "rest", trying different outlets on different circuits, even leaving it turned on for a few hours. Nothing has changed The remote does appear to "talk" to the TV as it will make the LCD go on, off, or flash a couple of times depending on what we push but that is all. We opened the back to have a look and did NOT clean it or touch anything. There is no obvious signs of damage to our untrained eyes. We called PM and they told us the nearest authorized service center is several hundred miles awaay. It is not under warranty as best we know. Any ideas?
Screen shrinks and expands and wams up after 10-20 minutes and then went out completely? Power light still comes on and remote still works? This is a common problem for this model and is most likely related to a bad chip. A tech will charge you over $300.00 to fix it but you can buy the repair kit including the chip, step by step instructions and repair manuals for under $40.00 if you are willing to do a little soldering. Go to http://www.magnavoxhelp.com/ and enter your model or chasis number and order the kit. This will not fix color problems!

I was also given a tv with the exact problem. turn the tv on and the green light comes on but no other sign of power. The main ceramic fuse is good but have not touched anything else.
9p6040 c102 60" television - has power, no sound or picture problem, and notify you when a new solution is offered
I have exact same TV with exact same problem. This seems very common but I haven't seen any solutions yet.
