Question about Lexmark X83 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Printer does not print correctly.

Just recently my printer does not print in the middle of any document I attempt to print. It scans fine but leaves a middle streak of non-print. I have enclosed a Printer test page to show what it is doing. Thank you in advance if it can be fixed. Earl W. King [email protected]

It sounds like you have a clogged printerhead without seeing test page it is always abasic guide. I would thoroughly manually clean all cartridge printheads (whether on the cartridge or the unit) with cotton buds and proper cleaning solution. Try and print once you reset your ink levels. post back if no help.

If this did not work, is the printer by itself or attatched to a pc?

Sounds like an issue with the toner cartridge if it only manifests when it is printing a copy. Does the same happen when you print a document direct from a PC?

When we attempt to print it leaves black streak marks. At first it printed all black and when we went to setup under maintainence we chose alignment and clean cartridges. This worked however we still see...

If an inkjet printer gives white streaks where it should be black, it means the ink is very low, or there is dirt under the nozzles preventing it from printing properly, or, in the case of non original cartridges, ink might be leaking which prevents the bubbles of ink to squirt onto the page.

If the streaks are black where it should be white, is sounds like some dust or fluff below the cartridge leaves ink smears on the page.

Dell all-in-one printer streaks when using the copy function. The printing of a document work fine. What is the problem?

If you get the streaks during the copy/scan function, try cleaning the glass with a lint-free cloth, like a coffee filter.

If the streaks remain, then it's possible the bulb is slowly failing. Since the bulb cannot be replace, a new scanner or printer scanner may be in your future.

My printer is leaving horizontal streaks across

When I had the same problem, I found out, that Epson did not like Generic Ink. As soon as I replaced it with Genuine Epson Ink, it was fine.

Make sure you do Maintenance, Nozzle Check and Head Cleaning. You might be clogged?

Good Luck.

Dell 962 prints fine - copies, scans and faxes are illegible

That is a sound approach you offer because, 1.) Cleaning the Carts. usually solves streaking, 2.) Cleaning the strip on the read glass fixes lines on the scanned images, 3.) You may have a saturation of ink inside the conveyance rollers that is soaking everything. You don't want to know how hard it is to get all the ink out of a wet printer. Replace it, save the hassle.

Black streaks on prints

Where the original page that you wish scanned/faxed there will be a device called a "scan part". This device "reads" the paper to be faxed/scanned as it passes. It usually is found very near where the paper to be faxed goes in.
If there is a spec of debris on this part it will cause a fine line straight down the document. If its dirty, the document will be too! Just give it a good cleaning and you should be fine.

Scaned documents have many black areas even in the preview mode.

Open up the document feeder and look for dirt on the scanner glass.

Scan views fine; prints fuzzy

Try to change the dpi to the maximum, maybe 600 dpi. This will make the picture more defined.

Scanning document leaves streak down right hand side

Even a single grain of dust or a single strand of hair on the scanning glass will cause the scan head to perceive ink/image where there is none. Deffinetly try cleaning the glass using a good window cleaner, and a cloth that is completely clean, or even a peice of newspaper. If the black line remains, I would suggest taking it into a service center to have the scan head itself cleaned.
