You can check with Amazon but I know that they will tell you it won't be cost effective to repair. It's $99 for a new Fire 6" right now.

One suggestion, when you purchase a replacement you might consider getting damage insurance with it as it would cover situations just like this.

First off, I've had 5+ of that type of kindle. Each time the screen was cracked causing the screen to not turn on. If you see any lines this is definitely your problem. If so, you can either replace the screen or replace the kindle.

Usually amazon will repalce your kindle if the screen is cracked. Try calling amazon customer support. If not, you can pay amazon to fix the screen but the cost of a new screen is almost the same as buying a new kindle.

You can get the screen replaced but it costs $149.00, the cost of a brand new kindle! The replacement is not sponsored by amazon, so it would void your warranty as well.

You have cracked the digitizer on the kindle. You will have to get it repaired.

Amazon is aware that there is a problem with fragility of the screens on the Kindles. At first, they were getting a LOT of criticism for stonewalling on this issue, then they turned around 180 degrees and decided "the customer is right." If you email customer support through the Amazon website, they may offer to replace your entire unit for free (they did for me). They ship you a new Kindle, and you use the packaging and enclosed label to send the broken unit back so they can "study it and see what went wrong." If you have personal documents (e.g. PDF files) you'll need to store them on your computer before sending the unit back. For books bought through Amazon, though, they will automatically download them to your new Kindle when you register it.
