Question about NEC ND-3500A DVD±RW Dual Layer Burner
Hi, My dvd burner is burning cds normaly but i am having a problem with burning the dvds. It says that it has a problem writting to a disk. Also it says that I should clean the disk remove all fingerprints atc... I tried several new blank discs and I get the same problem. Anything that would lead to solve this problem will be appreciated. Thank you very much Ondra P.s. I am using "sonic record now" version 6.5.3 I've tried older version of nero before and I had similar problem
Bun the dvd player itself !

If you use a 4X compatible DVD+RW and try to write on it using an LG DVD Writer (which supports 8x) would you have a problem? I had a problem. I think speeds are not compatible, so it fails to write or erase a DVD+RW. Maybe you can check what sort of DVD you are using, what speeds the disk can work on, because writing data at 8x speeds on a 4x compatible disk makes no sense.

There are a few issues with dvd burning and dvd burners. Firstly, the actual brabd of dvdr you use will be different with many dvd burners and with avd players too. I can play some burnt dvds on my player but not others, and some will play for me but not my friends player. Finding which brands work for your system (i find tdk dvd -R gold work on many sytems. They are about $40.00 for 50. Second, is the burning speed. You can try slowing it down in the burners menu. If the dvd will go throught the process then not copy, you may need to use an extra utility, ( post if you need links to these) such as anydvd or dvd 2 one. Some dvds are harder to burn than others. Lastly, if you have read errors, it could be the actual driver or the burner itself. Try unistalling it, reinstalling, try updated driver, or try cleaning the laser with a dvd cleaner laser disc (not a cd one!!!, ther are two different ones) good luck all.

I need a bit more input please. I need to know your computer specs, (operating system and ram especially), an exact copy of the error message you recieve, and the brand of dvd's you're using. (I'll assume you know you need a dvdr to burn a dvd). Please supply this information and I will assist you all I can.

It's time to replace the defective (and probably warranty-expired) unit.
If your computer is a notebook, not a desktop, it's best to take the computer to a qualified technician, to disassemble your computer, and replace the drive.
