Cannot access PREFERENCE SETUP menu to reset to default settings
The rear speakers are not working. I am trying to access the "Preference Setup" menu after pressing the setup button in my remote control, so I can restore the factory settings using the "Default" option.
The problem is that the cursor jumps from the "Video Setup" icon to the "Password Setup" one, skipping the icon for "Preference Setup". Do you know how to make it stop in the latter?

If the cables have been installed correctly with matching color codes and your TV has been set for DVD player input, you should see something. Try swapping players to find out whether the old one works. If so, there may be something wrong with your new player.
Problem solved. Reset unit in setup menu.
To do a reset.
On the remote control press the SETUP button,
Press the right key on the remote 3 times,
The Preference page will show up,
Press the down arrow five times to highlight
"default", hit right arrow to highlight "reset"
Press enter to reset. Tum off/on.
You have to change the password mode first. But, you cannot unlock the password mode, if a disc is currently in the player. Eject the disc, set the password off, and then you can go to the preference setup
