No sound hi i have a problem with my laptop vgn-cr220e,no sound,even i checked device manager and it dont show eny problem ,i did all apdates of drivers,it didnt helped.if any cant sugest enything.thanks

    Same problem. I even tried headphones and they don't have sound either. It seems like the computer is actually playing the sound without a problem there just isn't any output. Any ideas?

    i have this problem only when i unplug the computer from the wall and it's running on the battery. otherwise, if i plug it back in and restart it it works again.

    I have the same problem on my laptop, the sound is moody!! sometimes it plays and sometimes it does'nt but it definitely doe snot help having the power plugged in. Does anyone know a solution??

    my laptop lose sound only once in a while
    i can solve it if I press the power button (which put it on sleep mode)
    and then press the power button again to turn it on.

    i have the vgn-cr220e

If you want to shell out a few dollars, driver detective is an option. I don't like to recommend it, but it does work if you don't wish to download drivers one-by-one. If you don't want to do this, you should go down the components in the device manager and install or reinstall every driver. That's the only surefire way to get your peripherals working again.

Dvd-rw drive driver and device manager reporting device is working properly but dvd-rw drive not reading discs
First thing I would try is go into Device Manager and uninstall this device, then in Device manager choose action>scan for new hardware.
If that doesn't do it go to manufacturer web site and look for the latest driver and in stall it.
If you need help with any of this post a comment and I will give you more details.

Sound has stopped working on sony laptop
have you checked device manager to update driver
in control panel sound / audio check to make sure all settings are correct and under audio make sure default settings are correct

your sound card may need replaced
have you made any system changes

Problem in hardware in sony vaio VGN-CR220E laptop computer
It should power on when plugged in, even if the battery is pulled out of the laptop.Try holding the power button down for 10 seconds to see if it boots up when its plugged in.

I ran into this problem while helping a friend with her laptop. Here is the solution: 

1) Visit the following webpage: http://esupport.sony.com/perl/swu-download.pl?template=EN&mdl=&upd_id=2031&SMB=YES

2) Download "SOOOTH-01106200-US.EXE"  
3) Run the program and follow the instructions, then reboot. 
There are several registry filters which, when removed and the system rebooted, re-enable your drive.
