Touchscreen stopped working

The touchscreen on my Garmin 2720 stopped working all of a sudden, and I have tried to do a master reset, but it still does't want to work. I can still use the remote control for it, but it is time consuming. Is there any way I can recalibrate the touchscreen with the remote? Or, is there anything else I can try without having to send it to Garmin?

I have the same problem...it seems to stop working when it has been inside the car during hot weather but then when the inside of the car cools off it still will not work. It has been working recently...very problematic...My remote works fine.

I also am having this problem. Called the manufacturer and was told since the one warranty was up, I had to pay a $300 flat fee to get it repaired. My remote works fine, but does not have full functionality. Is there any way to reset the touchscreen? Recalibraiting just brings up an error message.

Screen stopped responding to touch.  Remote control works fine. Any suggestions.  Unit is about three years old.  Tried starting holding down map and menu as suggested but did not work.

I am having the same problem with the Garmin 2720! It started acting up at random approximately a year ago. I was able to recalibrate after numerous attempts. Now it just will not respond!

I received the same answer from Garmin, $250.00 for a completely refurbished unit.

The 2720 has been an excellent unit to this point!

My 2720 Touch Screen quit working. It had been in the house resting on a shelf for 3 months. When I put it in my truck the touch worked several times and then quit.

Some where else in this site it said to hold the menu and map button while powering it on. I did that and it fixed my touchscreen problem, however I did loose all data, but I have that saved on my PC.

I found that my touchscreen stopped working after the unit heated up (in sun on dashboard)

When I turn the AC on high it cooled enough to work It also works first thing in the morning when it is still cool out

Unit is just over 2 years old Looks like that is the limit of its life based on what others are saying

Garmin 2720 touch the (s) and the (T) responds

You need to recalibrate the touchscreen. Try this: Turn off the Nuvi. Place your finger on the upper left-hand corner of the screen and then push down on the power button to turn the unit on. Release the power button when the Garmin logo appears. Continue to press on the upper left-hand corner of the screen until you see the calibration screen.

Go through the entire procedure of pressing each dot as it appears on the screen.

Once completed the Nuvi will display Calibration Complete This will recalibrate your touchscreen to the LCD display.

If this doesn't resolves your problem. then your touchscreen may be defective.

Garmin 2595 Touchscreen does not work properly, it's shutting down by itself. I made calibrate, reset, and touchscreen diagnose, nothing helps

If you have tried to recalibrate it and it still is unresponsive, then the touchscreen needs to be replaced. More info on touchscreen replacement can be found here:

How do you troubleshoot if the garmin gps suddenly just don't want to turn on even if it is plugged on the charger?

Try a "Master Reset" on your StreetPilot c550:

Power the StreetPilot off (ensure that it is not connected to external power)
Touch-and-hold your finger in the lower right corner of the Touchscreen...
Power the StreetPilot on...
Continue to hold your finger there until "Erase all user date?" appears...
Remover finger from the Touchscreen...
Touch "Yes"

If this doesn't work check to see if your item is still under warranty. If not I can provide you with a place that fixes gps' relatively inexpensively. Hope this helps.

Touchscreen on garmin nuvi 680 GPS stopped working

Try reseting the nuvi, there is a reset button on the bottom or on the back, some models have it on the front under the display cover.

if that doesn't help the digitizer which is the part on top of the lcd display that registers the touch could have failed and may need to be replaced.

I haven't seen many garmin repairers, you might have to get in touch with garmin about it, check ebay for replacement parts but if I remember correctly garmin takes care of it and don't distripute much parts.

Touch Screen Frozen

Note: A master reset will erase all favorites1 and will restore your device to the default factory settings. If you would like to back up your favorites to your computer, you can find instructions to do so on the Garmin site
To perform a master reset on a nuvi 300 series device:
1.Start with the device OFF and unplugged from the power source
2.Touch and hold the top right corner of the touchscreen2
3.Power the device ON while continuing to hold the touchscreen
4.The message "Do you really want to erase all user data?" will appear
5.Remove your finger from the touchscreen when this message displays
6.Touch Yes
After the nuvi resets, follow the on-screen prompts, and then place your device in an area with a clear view of the sky until it acquires satellites.
Although the master reset will erase all saved favorites, any loaded custom points of interest will remain intact on the device.
If the message in step 3 does not appear when using the top right corner of the touchscreen, please repeat these steps using the bottom right corner of the touchscreen instead.
