My printer refuse to print declaring "no paper" although the tray is full. Last time I have sent it to a official repair shop and they returned it with a remark "work done: putting tray size to a respectiv paper size", which was rubbish becuse my printer simply stopped working in the middle of few pages print without me changing the size of the paper on the control panel or on the tray. Before I send it again I would like to hear some feedback from you.
Your unit has a bad paper sensor. It can give you one of two incorrect messages: (1) no paper when it actually has or (2) no paper on the unit but no error message. Genuine Service Centers can show you actual schematics and Samsung's Service Page on the Internet. Or better yet, visit www.samsung.com and find an authorized center through the SUPPORT link.

I had a similar problem and immediatley suspected the sensor (was getting 'No Paper' error when it was properly loaded with paper). However, this turned out to be a red herring when I discovered that I could copy on the printer - just not print from my computer. In the end it turned out to be the paper size - the document I was trying to print was from Europe and the printer was looking for A4 paper - not 8.5 x 11 and so it reported 'No Paper'. I received no other indication that this was the problem. When I went in to the document that wouldn't print, I just changed the 'Page Setup' for 8.5 x 11 and this solved the problem. I sure spent a lot of time trying to 'fix' the sensor when it had nothing to do with the problem.
P.S. - the sensor is an optocoupler located deep within the printer.

No paper area as described. I believe the paper sensor is the right answer, but don't know where to find it. I assume the little flop-down lever you see inside the machine when the paper tray is removed is the sensor, but haven't disassembled to find out if it is mechanical or a photo-activated sensor. Anyone know?
I have the same problem. It copies okay when, but when I ask it to print something from the PC it gives me the "no paper/add paper" error
