I have a Samsung A7. After buying new batteries the camara will not turn on. With the new batteries fitted and after pressing the power button the lense will come out and the screen goes blank. the camara will not turn off. When the camara is in the video mode it will turn on as normal and you can access the menu but it will not let you do any thing with it.
Does your battery work with regular AA alkaline batteries ? They have higher voltage than NiMH rechargeable. I'm having a similar problem, just discovered today that my camera works fine with AA alkaline batteries.

My kodak Easyshare C653 camera is 2.5 years old when suddenly did this a few times
then completely refused to turn on at all. Research showed me that
this is a firmware issue in Kodak cameras. Kodak website said it will look at it and
try to fix it for minimum $70 which is not worth it in my case as I paid $130
for the camera brand new 2.5 years ago. So either pay the $ for kodak to fix or buy a new camera is the solution. I am buying a new camera but it won't be a kodak this time as I want a camera that last years and won't go dead after warranty runs out.
I had the same problem - and wondered if if might be that the battery didn't have enough 'grunt' to close the lense - so I am charging it via the actual charger (rather than through the computer) and sure enough, I turned it on and then off, and the lense closed. The green light comes on when I plug the camera into the computer to download photos, and I thought this was therefore charging the battery, but maybe it doesn't charge it properly. Anyway, my lense is now closed and the battery is still charging (light is still red). Good luck.
it usually doesnt disable the mic on webcam and go out and buy your self a logitech usb mic the quality is better and it works the web cams dont work ever and always conflicting with other irq'd software
I have the same camera... and it was doing the same thing AFTER i
changed my old batteries, because they were getting low. It was only
after i put in the NEW batteries that i had this problem... I tried
putting the old batteries back in and sure enough it worked again, so
it probably all just depends on the brand of the battery you use.
Horizontal bars on the LCD display is ONE indicator of a dirty playback head on the camcorder. Purchase a head cleaning tape (Bestbuy, Target, etc., for about $20) and try cleaning the playback head. I had to do that on my SC-D365 yesterday (9/7/07) and it cleared up the problem.
