We have an LG WM-1280 direct drive front loading washing machine which is becoming very noisy when spinning, I think the noise is coming from the drum (possibly bearings)this is the second time this has happened, the first time the machine was replaced by Comet after 5 months. Has anybody heard of this problem before.
Be sure the unit is level, not just stable, with the four feet touching the floor. If the unit is not level the centrifugal force of the spin cycle will be distributed unevenly, causing more pressure to be exerted in one corner then the other. this causes the unit to slighty lift in the opposite corner, thus shaking or vibrating. Many people citing this problem have their washers in an upstairs laundry room. Some of these houses may lack the needed support to sustain these washers without the floor flexing. the quality of the building is a factor.

Re: LG WM-1280 DD front loading washing machine
When the unit is off, open the door and spin the drum, does the noise occur? If the answer is no then there is nothing wrong with the bearings. Chances are the hall sensor on the motor is on the way out. Call for service and ask them to replace it. Make sure you are using a "HE" branded detergent,,,, less is best.

error code 'IE' means water does not enter the detergent drawer..if your water is hard or contains traces of lime deposits, the water inlet filter may become clogged..regular cleaning is suggested..clean the filter using hard bristle brush..
note: hard water is the one not undergone any treatment..in other words it is directly from the ground through your water pump and to the washer.
drum bearings, check and investigate, remove drive belt and then rotate, if still noisy then yes its the drum bearings, if the noise stops when the belt removed the motor bearings are faulty
costly repair on most models, sorry
oh there is also the possibility there is something lodged within the drum cavity between the lining and the drum casing
