Does this happen with all applications? This may be due to the header/footer and margin settings in y our application.
You can try opening notepad (Start -> Run -> Accessories -> Notepad) and entering a bunch of text into it. Then print it up and see if there is still all the extra space. If it prints normally, then adjust the margins in your other applications. If it is still not operating correctly, try running the printer diagnostics program to re-calibrate the printer.

have you set the page setup in document is same with page setup at print setup. Some new epson printer use paper sensor to measure the paper width. If page setup wider than actually paper inserted, the printer will print only half page.
example : Your document 10 cm wide, page setup 20 cm, and you insert 10 cm paper wide. It will print only half of 10 cm, 5 cm.
Hi Fieldridle, Im guessing you are connected to the cash register via serial, if so I'd try checking all the serial settings on both the printer and register so they match one another. Next, check that the register is sending the right type of emulation or printer language.
You are correct with the conflict, although, it's a difference in drivers, i think what has happened is when you share a printer with xp, it installs the driver from the pc with the driver and printer attached, and as it is attached to a win98 pc, the full functions are probably unavailable, unlike an xp local driver.
