It may either need a screen reset, or a cpu reset.
To reset the screen, Push the upper left hand corner of the screen (under the pwer slide-switch), while you toggle the power switch on AND HOLD THAT SPOT FOR MORE THAN 15 seconds, or until you see a display that says to Calibrate the Screen.
If you get there, there will be a black dot to touch (with the back of a pen) accurately...in different locations of the screen. This determines how it will react to your touches when operating.
(I did not know about this, and just used my finger to touch the dots. Well I could not see other pages later, and I thought the unit is broken).
Then shut it off, and reboot. The Garmin comes on with black background...loads the software...then the warning notice-Agree- to press.
If you cannot get either of these, your unit is not loading its software.
If your unit has a "Reset Button on the bottom of the unit" . Do not use sharp pointed objects.
If no Reset Button... lastly, Slide and HOLD On/Off switch to the left FOR 8-10 seconds.
Wait a bit, and try switching on again. All this is per their web site User Manual for the 200series.
Good luck.
Sounds like your battery is getting weak.

on the GPS device
I am very sorry to hear that you are having problems with the unit. You may need to switch the unit on and press and hold the centre of the screen until the message ?No detailed maps? message disappears.
If your map detail is missing, then the map information may have been disabled. To check to see if the mapping has been disabled, follow the steps below:
From the Where to? and View Map page, touch the Spanner icon, settings (Tools). Touch Map. Touch Map Info. The unit should display the name of the map that is loaded to the unit. The box in front of the map name should have a tick in it. If it does not, touch the box to place a tick in it.
I have the original disc that came with this model that I can send to you.
Mine works fine I just want to upgrade the maps to a later version, but can't find where as the shinco website was no use at all.
