Fan and Lights do not work

I changed the bulb in this microwave with out unplugging it, and I tripped a circuit breaker. Since putting the new bulbs in, the lights do not work. My fan now does not work. The microwave works fine, except for the lights and fan. The control panel seems fine, because when I press the fan or light buttons they are acknowledged. When I hit the fan button it says high, low or off but the fan doesn't go on. The same for the range light. Perhaps there is some common part that fried out. I am thinking a relay, or something along those lines. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have not fooled with the light as it still works after jostling the button panel so it appears there might be something loose. Looking for a way to remove the control panel. There is a connection between the fan and light as when when doesn't work neither does the other.

Sorry a bad controller printed circuit board or what GE calls a smart board. I have seen these smart boards as low as 85 bucks, go up to a price of 179.00!

SOURCE: JVM1190 Surface light and fan will not go on

We see this a lot. The problem is on the control panel, which we regularly repair nationwide for $39.95 postpaid.

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

This can often also affect the exhaust fan operation, too. The lights and fan can be inoperable or stuck on too.

Lights and fan not working on my microwave

was the fan working before you replaced the bulbs? Did you check the old bulbs ie filaments broken....if two bulbs stopped working at the same time probability suggests that the problem was not the bulbs, especially since the breaker fired when you put in new bulbs.
Could be a short inside ...if you are not brave enough to take it apart and inspect better you take to be looked at ...better a fried microwave than a fried you...

Counter lights

Hello!

Please consider troubleshooting the circuit of the oven, some connection in it is shorted causing the breaker tripped off.

Hope this help.

GE Microwave Surface Lights

The control circuits for the cooktop lights and the hood fan are spearate. The problem is indeed with the control unit. It's usually caused by either the filaments shorting when the lamp blows or by removing or installing the bulbs while the oven is still plugged into the power line. We regularly repair these nationwide for $32.50.
