SOURCE: clip and protect LEDs but no speaker output

Protect is a mode that it goes into that prevents future damage, i would recommend replacing the fuses.

SOURCE: speaker output is suddenly much lower and

you need a capacitor... draining too much of your battery

My QSC RMX2450 starts with red clip lights on. It turns to green only when there is input signal. Why is this

The red clip lights on the QSC RMX2450 indicate that the amplifier is receiving a signal that is too strong and could cause distortion or damage to the speakers. The green lights indicate that the signal is within a safe range. When there is no input signal, the amplifier defaults to the red clip lights as a precautionary measure. Once a signal is received and it is within the safe range, the lights turn green. This is a normal behavior for this amplifier.

My amps stays in the clip mode where as the light on the two channel stays red

CLIP: red, to the left of each Gain control.

Normal indication: illuminates whenever the amplifier is driven beyond full power. The LED's brightness indicates the amount of distortion. Distortion that causes only brief flashing may not be audible.

During muting, the indicator fully illuminates. This occurs during normal "On-Off" muting.

Abnormal indication:

•Bright red illumination while the amp is being used indicates either thermal muting or a shorted output.

•If the amplifier overheats, the fan will run at full speed, and operation should resume within one minute. Allow the fan to run, and make sure the amplifier ventilation is adequate.

•A shorted or overloaded output circuit will cause excessive Clip flashing and possible overheating.

•If distortion is audible without a Clip indication, the problem is either before or after the amplifier. Check for damaged speakers or overloaded signal source. The amplifier Gain control should be in the upper half of its range to prevent input overload.

No sound coming with protection light on

It's either overheated or you may have faulty speaker wiring or a shorted speaker. These directions come from a Samson servo 120a but the theory is the same.

The following conditions will cause the Protection LED to go on:

Initial power-up: For approximately five seconds after initial power-up, the relay

speaker connection circuitry is deactivated and the speaker output is muted. If everything is operating normally, you will hear an audible click at the conclusion of this brief period, as the circuitry is activated and the Servo 120a begins delivering signal to connected speakers (at which point the Speaker LED will light if the Speaker on/off switch is in its "in" position). It is normal for the Protection LED to fade gradually after the amplifier is powered off.

Overheating: A temperature sensing device in the Servo 120a will cause the relay speaker connection circuitry to be activated (and the Protection LED to go on) whenever the operating temperature of the unit rises above a safe level. To guard against this problem, make sure the Servo 120a receives adequate ventilation on all sides ; in extreme environmental conditions, you may also

want to consider the use of cooling fans.

Severe overcurrent conditions: This occurs whenever the signal being output

from the Servo 120a rises to a level above 20% THD (Total Harmonic Distortion).

Shorted speaker cables: This will occur if, due to faulty wiring, the hot and ground signals being output by the Servo 120a short to one another.

Output impedance drops below 2 ohms: This can occur if the Servo 120a is connected to inappropriate speaker systems (see the "Setting Up and Using the Servo 120a" section in this manual for more information).

DC voltage detected at speaker output: The most likely cause of this is an internal failure. In general, any time the Protection LED lights up (other than during the approximately five seconds following initial power-up), there is reason to be concerned. If this occurs, turn the Servo 120a off immediately and carefully check all wiring and external devices in order to locate and correct the condition that caused the LED to light up in the first place.

MY KICKER ZX 750.1channel amp "FLIP FLOPS" from protected mode(red light) to normal (green light) every 2 seconds.

Are you getting any sound output at all from amplifier?
Is there a popping or banging coming from speaker?
It could possibly be a faulty output mosfet that is ocillating cause DC to leak onto the speaker output causing it to flip into protect.
please advise
thanks,ben

What does the orange light protection mean

Disconnect all speaker connections and rca cables. Leave power, ground and remote wires intact. Try turning on again. If you still have a protection light your amp is faulty. Hopefully you have warranty .

Hi i am matt

If the protection LED lights only after the remote voltage is applied (head unit is switched on), the amplifier likely has shorted output transistors. If the protection LED remains lit without remote voltage applied, the amp may have other problems.

Does the protection LED light with no speaker wires connected to the amp and no RCAs plugged into the amp?

Long startup

There is a bad connection in the other channel or the speaker relay has a bad contact in it.
