Lcd screen The Lcd screen on my olympus sp 500 uz comes on when I turn on the camera but the image is not normal. What I see is a color negative image. All the colors are reversed. I tried removing the batteries and card and reinstalling 12 hours later. No good, same problem.

That is an effect that can be had by internal software in the camera, like my Sony. Just get in there and turn off "negative" Youll probably see Sepia, solarize, B/W and negative as other choices.

Make sure you have the switch turned to "take picture (camera)" instead of "reveiw photos (green triagle)". On this one, i think it is a wheel on the top of the camera.

The problem you are describing is a problem with one of the chips in the camera that controls image processing. It seems to have failed and needs to be replaced. Following are the instructions to send your camera to Olympus for service.

Olympus sp-500 uz can I get the date on a photo

By default Olympus cameras do not print the date on the images when they are downloaded to a PC. Olympus does not include this functionality because they feel that it detracts from image quality. There is a function of the camera called print order that you can set that it will print the date on the images but this is only if you take the card to a photo processing store. However if you use the Olympus Master software and print the images that you have previously transferred there is a check box in the print setting window that you can add the date and or time to the printed image.

Conversion of LCD

Unfortunately such conversion is not possible. If the "vari angle" screen is an essential your best approach would be to dispose of the SP 550 UZ and buy another camera meeting your need. Sorry!

Problem with camera OLYMPUS SP 500 UZ

This sounds like a CCD issue in the camera. The CCD is the part in the camera that captures the image (the "digital film") if you will and converts it to a format the camera can read.

When they go bad a lot of times you will see weird colorations and/or stripes, very similar to what you are describing.
You can try eBay for a place to buy, or maybe check the manufacturer.

that´s not usual to happen it´s the first time that i see it, and if the pics aren´t there the camera can´t help u, just take the card to a card reader and try to see them there.
