I had the same problem, started filling right away, also when the wash cycle is done, the clothes are wet, it starts to fill again after spin cycle. I intended to buy a load sensing switch the next day, but it was $76 dollars. i removed the switch, gentley pryed it apart, there was 2 small thin brass/copper contact tabs, I bent them slightly to make better contact. I put the switch back together and reinstalled it, put the machine back together, and it has been 3 months with no problems.

SOURCE: whirlpool washer WTW57ESVW agitates right away

My wife had the same problem and it had one other problem where it added water at the end of the spin cycle which left the washed clothes all wet. After doing some research on the internet I narrowed down the problem to two parts, auto-sensing switch or timer control. I called Whirlpool (800-253-1301) and ordered an auto-sensing switch (part# W10292584 which is replacement of W10177795 which is discontinued) and a timer control (part# W10177827) for $26.30 total at 75% off, plus $8.99 Fedex shipping and $2.12 PA sales tax for a grand total of $37.41. The original part costs were $65.62 and $39.60 respectively. I took the control panel off following the video from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9QELKlLEZeI and first tried the replacement timer and it made no difference, i.e. it still agitated immediately while filling and it filled at the end of spin cycle but only on the normal wash cycle which is on the top half. The agitation problem exists on all wash cycles except for the handwash option, but the filling problem at the end of spin cycle existed only for the normal wash cycle and not on any of the other 3 wash cycles. Then, I put the old timer back on and tried the replacement auto-sensing switch and that fixed the problem. I should have known that was the problem because when I was ordering the parts on the phone, the woman from Whirlpool told me they had over two thousand of the auto-sensing switches in stock and when I heard that I was thinking to myself "I don't know how many of these washers they sold, but that part must break a lot to keep that many in stock." I don't know how long ago the original auto-sensing parts were initially manufactured, but the Whirlpool parts website says that it's discontinued, so that only leads me to believe the original part wasn't very reliable to begin with. I called several local appliance repair folks and just to diagnose the problem, it was going to cost me anywhere from $75 to $100, so it was more cost effective for me to just buy the parts and tried them myself even though I ended up with a spare part (timer control) I didn't need.

SOURCE: My washer did fill, but

Hi tragz,

If it can't drain, it won't spin. There may be something preventing the pump from draining in the Pump filter. You will need to clean it.

Please follow my below Tip on how to do it:

ACCESS, DRAIN & CLEAN THE DRAIN PUMP FILTER

Kind Regards d")

Sounds like the fill switch needs to be replaced. A good way to test it is to set your machine on low fill and see if it fills past 3/4. If it does, it's the fill switch.

Whirlpool washer WTW5510VQO will fill, spin and drian but won't agitate, just makes a clicking noise.

If this is just clicking then the agitator bearings stuck or something is jamming it.

Washer starts agitation during water fill up and after spin cycle ends washer fills back with water and leaves clothes very wet.

I also have a Whirlpool top load Model # WtW57ESVW auto sensing load washer. I have it it almost a year and it has started to do exactly the same as described above. The repairman said today that it needed a "auto load sensing switch" which he has ordered for me.

Note - you can use your washer until the problem is fixed, but you have to make sure you manually stop the spin cycle prior to it just finishing, for that is the time period that the water starts to fill again.

I also noted that my local Lowes store does NOT sell this model anymore - probably too many customer complaints about this exact same problem. As soon as I showed the problem to the repairman this AM, he immediately diagnosed the issue - said that it was a recurring issue with this particular model.
