Most of these universal remotes don't always have the same features as the original remote. I usually just keep the old remote for just that purpose---to set the T-Set. Otherwise, sorry.
The remote must be programmable or have a feature called "Code Search". If the remote doesn't have these features then the answer is you will need to buy a remote like i described above with the ability to operate lots of different devices, they are really cheap for the entry level ones, less than $10.00, but I suggest you spend a little more and buy a higher end model with more ease of use features and the ability to operate more types of functions specific to a DVR or DVD or Blu Ray player.. I'm glad to provide the instruction manual for the DVD Recorder. RMT D229P is the model # of the Remote supplied with the RDR-GX330DVD Recorder. Please click hear to download the manual of the DVD Recorder.
Thanks for understanding. Please let me know if you require any clarifications.
My original remote malfunctioned for my RCA DRC8312N. I have purchased a RCA universal remote # RCR6473. I have used code # 3242 for the DVD code.It does almost everything that the original remote did except to open the DVD door. You just need to experiment with the onscreen info display in order to change title names and thumbnails etc. The remote also works great for other euipment functions as well as working features on my Sharp tv.
On the new Remote, look in the manual for a feature called "Code Hunting" if it has it, it can take 15 to 20 minutes to complete search, however, if it's in it's database, you can find it. If the univ remote does not code search, return it and get one that does, most inexpensive univ remotes have this feature and list it on the box or manual. The Problem is that 50 to 75 manufacturers build 1000 to 2000 different DVD players, and they are all to the designers specification. Hope this helps
wal mart sells a phillips universal plip remote that works with the unit but the code for the dvd player is not listed so you have to do a manual code serch pain in the !@# but other then that it works
I have the same model and it works wonderful, but you need the remote control to record. connect cable from video out on recorder to video in on you tv. at least you'll be able to play the dvd. If this doesn't work it's because you need the remote to set the date and time features.
