Turned on our TV for some down time tonite, and after watching a program for 10 minutes,it suddenly went,to a series of the red green blue horizontal lines,(with sound) about 4 inches up the screen, then a fraction after that a brief pale greeny " ghosting" a bit like the original Dr Who credit type pattern,in centre screen, before the whole thing, sound and vision, cut, and the red standby light, front right, was going on then off butin pulses of 2. I'm foxed, so any clues. It has been showing some colour fluctuation for a while. Is it time to lob it and go "HDI ready, Digital and all, or is it an easy fix? Please nicely.
I've just turned it on again, and the same thing has happened ( after I thought I'd fixed it with a smart but not too viscious clout to the chassis.
TWO Blinks---B+ over current protection (OCP) , unit goes to the standby mode then displays the 2 blink fault. Could be a short in the power supply of any of the circuits.

2 things that will cause that vertical IC or Yoke! Listen to this one went on service call 2wks ago Customer had a 50 INCH1988 pioneer big screen replaced 3 capacitors resolder poor connections TV is now working like New ?
Be sure its blinking 5 times, count after it cycles the first time through the red lights. If it is fact 5 times, that is a lamp driver error.More likely it cycled 4 times, which is common on this model, if that's the case, then it's the fan. Most likely the large one in the rear...It's an easy fix, just pull the back off and replace the part.
For the last week my TV has been going to a black screen for 10 seconds or so then the picture returns. It has been continual. Last night it stopped going to black screen, but now the standby light flashes 5 consecutive times and the color went haywire. A lot of red and everything that is suppose to be black is green.
I did a soft and hard reset with no success. What's wrong and is it worth fixing? Bought new in November 2002.
When i turn the tv on there's no image and the red light blinks twice each time, but no sound or image or any sign of anything. Please help me with this problem, my tv is a sony kv-25 with more than 10 years of age.
Jar-Head, bad news, the picture tube has a mild short in the green cathode, tech can come out and try to restore it but it`s usually a futile attempt on sony tubes, sorry to be the bearer of bad news, BMW Rider
Check soldered in fuse R607 in power supply circuit =
If open, replace it and bad converter xistors ( 2SC4834)
Next, replace shorted horizontal output transistor w/ first Quality.
Solder any / all bad connects, esp.horiz drive to base of horiz.
o / p xistor. Soldering is critical or it will blow up again......
