My Canon MP270 is saying "printer is offline", but I have power and a connection to the computer. I've tried using different cable and connecting to different usb ports.
Hi
How about disconnecting it completely from PC and from power.
Wait a few minutes and then connect again.
Clear any paper jams and print queues.
You might need to clear the print que and restart the print spooler. To learn how to do that click the link below:

Hi, please follow this instruction to make your printer back to "online". Notice that i have used Epson Stylus Photo R230 as a model for the instruction, but this procedure also works with canon.
1. Please try to print a document. (word, excel etc.),
2. Now, if you already notice that your printer is "offline" by clicking the printers icon at the task bar.
The task bar can be found in the lower right part of your screen.
3. All you have to do is, Click on the "printer" tab
4. And then remove the check mark at "user printer offline" by clicking on it.
5. Once done, you will notice that the "use printer offline" will disappear and then let's you print the specified document again.
I hope this helps.
SOURCE: It just died. . .
Given the age of the printer I would recommend replacing it. You can get a much better printer for about 20-40$. Not worth the cost of repair. All I would try to troubleshoot is just to double check all your connections to the computer and the outlet and also try uninstalling and reinstalling the printer if the printer is powering up.
Thank you,
Lee
SOURCE: Hi I have a canon
Most likely it would be better to put your money towards a new printer.
I suggest you Google search for the specifications and prices from various suppliers on the Internet for a price comparison.

Check the settings on your computer for list of printers installed, and see if you can see your PIXMA there and make sure it is not duplicated.
