SOURCE: Fault code F498 on panasonic

as far as i understand, it is caused by dry joints - poor workmanship. Try taking the top off and pressing down on right-hand side the green circuit board with the dvd in standby. Then switch on. If that works then what i did was to take all the screws out and jiggle it then put all screws back except the one to the left of the board, next to the brown board. seems to work now. SOURCE: DVD olayer displays fault code

Hi,

Error code F498 refers to "failure to process digital communication" which refers to solder failure of connectors, PCBs, laser eye and other major component interaction. It is a fairly common Panasonic problem.

A logical course of action is to present it to an authorized Service Center for appropriate action.

Your alternate options are:

  • Try a reset. Unplug from the mains for 30 minutes, hoping that it is just a system's glitch;
  • open the unit and check for any cold solder, flexible cable connectors and other electrical joints;
  • seek the services of a qualified professional.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

SOURCE: Panasonic DVD player RV62 H07 message - disc

You can try to clean the laser by opening the unit and wiping gently with a cue tip or cotton swab, but if you are getting a H07 errorit may be somethng more serious and require a replacementof the dvd drive.I hope this helps. Good luck.

PANASONIC DMR-ES30V KEEPS SWITCHING OFF

I had this code (f09) on my Panasonic DVD VHS recorder. After seeing that it meant overload I took the cover off to look for burnt out components. I found that an electrolytic capacitor had bulged (look up capacitor plague on wikipedia). I replaced the capacitor with one of a similar value from an old power supply and it worked fine.

Faut F489

This is for code f489 as well as f498 F498 means a problem with flash eprom IC; meaning that unit is unable to read the basic instructions from the eprom IC. Can be cuased by several; may simply be a "bad connection issue" at the eprom Ic or somwhere in the Bus line--defective Ic or corrupted information which may or may not be recovered with a "service recovery" disc.(not an end user procedure) First step; try resoldering Eprom ic being careful not to bridge pins. second would be to take the unit to a AUTHORIZED ONLY repair shop for a firmware or eeprom update. Good Luck
