When we turn on the TV, via remote or manually, the red 'timer' light blinks, and we get nothing else. We wonder if we accidentally pushed a wrong button, or if we need to call someone out to look at it. My husband has a bad back, so we can't take it in, and would have to call a technician out. This is the first problem we have had with it. I believe it is approximately 6 years old.

PIC OFF/TIMER LED-------Green or Orange LED-------
* Lights up in green when Picture Off is activated
* Lights up in orange when the timer is set
When timer is set, the LED remains lit even
when the TV is turned off
read the instruction manual and see how to operate. if the timer is for to sleep, the problem will be the IC associates with him, you must see the block diagram and w.diagram. and tracking the signal. go to www. retrevo.com and download the diagram. God bless you
If you unplug the set and plug it back and turn it on and it repeats this look to see if the light is either constantly blinking or blinking a specific number of blinks---specific number would be an error code.
Check the remote carefully for a stuck button. You may have pressed a button and it went a bit crooked getting stuck. Also, remove the batteries of the remote and try operating the TV manually. If the remote is the cause, the TV will work correctly once you remove the batteries. Another way to check is by using a digital camera, like the one in a cell phone. Turn on the camera and point it at the remote. If you see a white light coming from the transmitter, the remote is sending a signal. Look for a stuck button.
A reset won't fix this. The standby light should be blinking a repeated count with a 3 second pause inbetween. Post that count here. That will indicate the circuit/condition that is preventing the set from turning on.
The blinking light means almost 100% that the high voltage circuit has failed. Probably need a new horizontal output transistor and flyback. Perhaps an associated resistor or diode. If you have the expertise go for it, otherwise take it to a professional. In any case be extremely careful and safe. Good luck.
