It may not be the caps at all, a lot of the new LED Back-Lit TV have faulty LEDs. They short and pull down the power supply, and to a novice it will seem like a bad power supply. That means that you must replace the bad LED's in that particular LED strip before you can fix the problem. Not an easy repair for a rookie.

SOURCE: tv won't turn no the vizio logo only blinks

Hi,

That problem is 2 causes, its either power supply or system board.
This are some D.I.Y procedure for troubleshooting.

  1. Open the back cover by removing all screws at the back.
  2. Try to look at the power supply board and find the leak/bulge on top capacitors. If you found, replace it with the same type and ratings.
  3. If the power supply doesn't have any leak capacitors.Try to power it ON to perform voltage checking.
  4. Check the output voltage of power supply such as 5vdc,12vdc and 24vdc by using voltmeter. If this 3 supplies having a voltage drop or flickering voltage while on power ON.Check the following parts on the power supply, change value/open resistor, shorted transistor and diode or repeat step # 2.
  5. When the output voltage is stable and all parts looks OK.The problem could be on system board.Unfortunately the system board or main board is not for D.I.Y because the parts inside is very logic and very sensitive. That is replaceable.

Thank you and good luck.

I hope you get a response. I am having the same issue. It turned off on my this morning @ 0600 and then after getting home from work I was cooking dinner and was wondering who turned the TV off. It did it again.
Then it happened about three hours after that. I wish I knew what the problem was!

SOURCE: Vizio E550VL won't turn on. The vizio logo just flashes orange.

Good day!!!!

That problem is usually cause of faulty capacitors on the power supply board..

Just follow this instruction to fix your TV..

1. Open the back cover of your TV.
2. Look at the power supply board..Its normally connected to the power cord..
3. After that,,try to look at the actual image of capacitors if it is bulged on the top so that you can easily determine the bad capacitors..
4. After that,,try to replaced the bad capacitors using soldering iron and soldering lead..replaced the capacitors only with the same type ratings and value..
5. Some of the capacitors not bulged so its better if have a capacitance meter

Vizio M470NV M-series vizio light on orange will not to white tv does't come on change the power board. same problem. whats the problem?

Fault at its main digital board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts.

In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.

Vizio sv41xvt flashing logo. won't power up

Sounds like either a power circuit board or mainboard failure. I'm going through same problems, mine is power board failure.

The Visio on front blinks orange and white with black screen

The tv is powering down when flashing. Hold the power button down for thirty seconds, this will shut the power down completely. \do this after you unplug it. than plug it back in. it will still blink but only for a few seconds then you should be able to turn the tv on

Solutions (2) Best Solution That little fella is only turned off by unplugging it. If all those little lights in America could be turned off we could do with one less nuclear power plant. If unplugging it is not an option, my wife's solution is to cover it with a piece of black tape.

remove all screws on the back of the tv, carefully pull off back cover. you will see two circuit boards one on the left (Power) and one on the right (Video) on the Video board there is a small plug on the right side with a yellow, white and red wire going into a small white connector. the red wire is what controls the orange light on the front. now that the plug is pulled turn it over and you should see a small white plastic piece that holds each metal connector on the end of the wires in. pry this piece of plastic up for the red wire and pull at the same time, the wire will come out of the connector. now tape the metal connector with electrical tape and tuck it behind something or tape it to the chassis. plug your connector back in. put the rear cover back on. now your tv will only show the vizio logo in white when you have the power on. If you wish to disable the logo for both orange and white just disconnect the white plug completely.

Vizio M470NV just purchased, while watching TV it turns off with the Vizio light blinking between orange and white. Can not turn back on !! I have to just wait for about a minute then tv turns back on by...

I have the same issue on my Vizio M470NV. I called Vizio and they told me it is a self diagnostic test that is shutting down the TV automatically to protect it. They said they are working on fixing the issue with a firmware update that will be pushed out automatically if you are connected to the internet. No ETA given on when that would happen. I called them on the 3/14/11 and my TV is still shutting down randomly.
