TV shuts off when VCR tries to eject cassette
shuts off after 10 to 20 seconds. We tried many things but after using a flashlight to look inside it stayed on for a while. Now we use little christmaslights at the open VCR opening and the TV stayes on.But I cannot use the VCR with the open front. There must be another solution even if it works fine.
A little bulb maybe, but where??????????And how to install???

Re: TV shuts off after 10 sec
TV/vcr combo units develop problems in the vcr section, what happens is the cassete assembly draws too much current then the tv senses this increase and it says NO and shuts down, you will not be able to use the vcr anyway because it has a problem and the tv will continue to shutdown until the vcr is repaired,I have seen combo units with the tv working only as long as the vcr is not use.Remove the light you have in the opening and hope the tv works fine by itself.Adding a light is not safe.I hope this inf.helps somehow.Good luck

Try removing the top cover & have a look to see what happens when you put the tape in & press play/rewind etc. Is the take up spool (right hand spool) turning properly or is there slack tape not being taken into the cassette? Are the heads spinning ? I think your problem is more likely to do with the tape not travelling smoothly around the tape path. Possibly the clutch gears need cleaned or the soft brakes may not be dis-engaging properly.
The set is still sensin a problem thats why it shuts off, in this units the problem is in the vcr section, check the cassette assambly sometimes is jammed and it will not load or one side of the cassette tray is pushed in too far or misaligned. It will continuo to shutdown until the problem is corrected.Be careful when working on it.
following is pasted from SV-7000W manual:
1 To lock the VCR, hold down the P/STILL (II) button for
approximately five seconds.
Result: The lock indicator (LOCK) is displayed.
If a cassette is in the VCR when you lock it, the cassette will
first be ejected.
2 To unlock the VCR, hold down the P/STILL (II) button again for
approximately five seconds.
Result: The lock indicator (LOCK) is no longer displayed.
If that fails, try the same thing using the play/stop button.
