Perform a master reset. To do the reset you need to turn the receiver on, then on the front panel of the receiver press and hold the "VCR/DVR" button while doing that press the "STANDBY/ON" button. You will see the word "Clear" in the display screen and the receiver will go into standby mode.

Trans problem, get the code.

NO sound at all? That would be odd as its internal FM receiver is independent of any user connections. I'd work on getting FM to work first, then move on to more complex issues.

To reset the AV receiver to its factory defaults, turn it on and, while holding down the [Video 1] button, press the [Standby/On] button. "Clear" will appear on the display and the AV receiver will enter Standby mode.

Is the check engine light ( PGM-FI ) light on the dashboard came on?
There is a ECU ( computer ) under the passenger seat.
Count the number of red LED light flashing.
Usually it is the oxygen sensor problem if you see 1 light flashing.
If there is not check engine light, do tune up and if that does not fix the problem, check the catalytic converter.

disconnect all speakers. do this with the power cord unplugged from wall. then re-try without speakers. if still in protect --shorted channel-which is repair/parts will be needed.

change the shift solenoid and it will help ,if this doesn't then change the main relay.

To start with, if you don't know exactly what your doing, there is a 50% chance of being killed working on a strobe flash. If you need a flash that regulates the power, buy one that does to start with as you have more money in modifying one than a new one costs.

put a timing light on any plug wire press the button or, turn on the timing light: if it flashes you have a good ignition circuit

check the outputs of the power supply
if this are okay clean the machenical sction

The Integra DPC-8.5 changer (as opposed to the DPS-8.3 single-play unit -- not sure which you have, as you mention DPS-8.5, a non-existent model) and most of the integra line of players, will sometimes be thrown into brainlock by out-of-step shutoffs. They will usually respond to the Integra/Onkyo instruction manual's directions to turn it off (you're already done that), then unplug the power cord from the back of the machine, wait a few seconds (make it 30 to be safe), then plug it back in and turn it on via the standby switch. The screen should display its welcome message, cycle through startup, and being working again. It is very much like rebooting a PC. In fact there is little difference.

If this doesn't work then something has gone wrong inside and probably has nothing to do with your shutdown method on the way out the door. These things do happen. Hopefully by now you've already figured this out. If not, give it a try. It usually works.
