Question about Meade DS-2130 (350 x 127mm) Telescope

1 Answer

Can't see a thing

I recently received a Meade DS 2130 as a gift. I have never used a telescope before, which makes it frustrating. I have read through the manual a thousand times, but still I see nothing. I have manually trained the scope on the moon and still nothing. Quite frankly, I just want to see "something" as all of the write-ups I have read about this scope suggest that I should be able to see Jupiter etc... Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thank you, TDuguid

Well, not to be insulting did you at least take the dust cover off the thing, or maybe mirror lenses are not in.

Where do I plug in my battery pack on my meade jupitar 114EQ-DS?

The telescope does not use a battery, only the optional motor drive uses batteries and they fit in the motor drive.

When it calibrates north it is actually pointng northeast. I have the correct zipcode entered in.

It does not actually point DIRECTLY North-- do not worry about it. Just center the two alignment stars.

I have six Meade ETS-LX 6" telescopes which are used in an introductory astronomy lab. I have upgraded the firmware and other files in three of the six and they are working fine. The other three do...

These scopes have many bugs in the firmware and are not a mature technology. Some people have issues and some do not.

About the only thing you can try is to reload the firmware using the SC CARD method. Contact Meade or read the manual to learn how to upgrade the firmware using an SD flash memory card.

Other than that the scopes will need to be returned to Meade for repair.

Can see any thing vivitar Please Help frustrated and confused

Put the eyepiece with the largest number written on it into the "diagonal" that came with the telescope. DO NOT use the 2x barlow if you have one.

Go outside during the day time and practice focusing on a distant object. The moon should be your first night time target.

Meade DS-2000 Manual Doesn't have info. about Meade Ds-2130

ds-2000 refers to the model line of the scope. ds-2130 the 130 refers to the diameter of the objective lens in mm. I have a ds-2114. Where the objective lens is 114 mm in diameter. as far as the manual goes everything else should be the same.
