If the am is working and fm is not, check to make sure antenna is extended all the way, also adding a long wire to the antenna rod will increase range, if no change! the fm section is defective and replacing the whole unit is the only option.

Trying to unlock radio and says hit 2-3 presets for 6 sec...did that and nothing says hit am/fm button....there is no am/fm button only band....i changed from a single disc radio to a 6 cd changer ..

Do you know the make and model of the radio?

You state that you are trying to unlock the radio, but at what stage are you:

1) Do you have the security code and you are just trying to enter it?

2) You do not have the security code and you are trying to get the radio serial number?

3) Something else?

Why won't FM radio work on the Motorola 6310 two-way radio?

Hi,

It's a two way communications radio, not a broadcast radio, hence it won't receive FM/AM broadcast radio stations.

You should not confuse the two as they work on different radio bands, most FM broadcast radios are on the 86-108MHz bands, whereas two way radios operate on the following bands:
1-86MHz, 108-174MHz, 220-520MHz & 865-920MHz

I don't know which band your radio works on, but not broadcast bands I'm sure.

The only exception to this is the smaller hand helds, which may have FM broadcast programmed, but if this is the case with yours, This issue is out of the realm of two way radio queries, as Broadcast radio is not two way radio, but one way radio, and I'm not competent enough to answer Broadcast radio issues.

Fix my connex 3400 hb sideband button

Hi there, if you are talking about the Connex CX 3400 HP there is no sideband or SSB on this radio. It is only AM and FM 10 meter Ham radio. Many people do modify these radios to include the 11 meter frequencies which is the CB band. Maybe knowing the actual bands and their frequencies will help some too this radio does have 6 different bands ranging from (Band A. 28.015 thru 28.455) (Band B. 28.145 thru 28.585) (Band C. 28.115 thru 28.555) (Band D. 28.085 thru 28.525) (Band E. 28.055 thru 28.495) (Band F. 28.025 thru 28.465.) I hope this will help you. Bob

FM band not working

If the FM band is not working, make sure rod antenna is fully extended, wrap wire around the antenna for better gain, if still no result the FM section is defective and is not cost effective to repair.

My Grundig Satellit 700 Radio is not working on FM Band but is working well on AM and Shortwave Band. After pressing ON/OFF button and FM/RDS-AF button when we try to operate the FM Band of this radio...

The most common problem for no FM is the failure of component F1 IF transformer. One of the windings on the transformer opens, so you have either no input, or a very low level input to the FM mixer. You need to obtain a copy of the Satellit 700 service manual, and then find F1 in the schematics. You can check the windings with a simple ohm meter to verify if one of the windings is open or not.
If F1 is defective, and I have seen many 700's with this fault, you need to replace it with an adjustable 10.7 MHz IF Transformer in a 7mm can configuration.
I found a replacement 7 mm 10.7 MHz IF Transformer at Talon Electronics. Their part number for it is IND2134, and it costs a whopping $0.80. Here is a link:

How do you expand the FM band on a 2001 X-type Jaguar radio

FM band expanders are available on eBay. They will expand the FM band from 76Mhz - 90Mhz range to the 88Mhz - 108Mhz frequency range. Try eBay Australia, under "FM expander".

They fit very simply inline on your antenna wire (plug inline) and there's only one wire to connect to 12V + power supply... very easy to DIY.

Realistic pro 2020 scanner

The Realistic PRO-2052 is an old (vintage) scanner receiver with fixed AM and FM modes on the bands it cover, as specified by the U.S. band allocation. The PRO-2020 covers only the VHF and UHF frequencies and modes AM and FM is not user selectable. Frequencies can be programmed into any of the 20 memory channels

U.S. Coverage: (varies from state to state and other countries. We don't use 30-50 Mhz here in the Philippines for 2 way mobile communications, except for cordless phones)

30-50 Mhz Lower VHF at FM narrowband only (covers mobile, emergencies, businesses, etc. and
cordless phones)
108-136 Mhz Aircraft band at AM narrowband only
138-174 Mhz Amateur and Commercial band at FM narrowband only (2 meter band)
410-512 MHz Amateur and Commercial band at FM narrowband only (70 cm band)

If you're trying to select AM or FM for a specified frequency, I'm afraid you can't do that as it is not selectable.

If you are trying to program AM Broadcast frequencies (mediumwave (MW) or FM Broadcast frequencies (FM radio stations), those were not covered by your PRO-2020's microprocessor. Even if you modify your scanner to receive those bands, you will not hear radio transmission properly since the receiver do not decode FM wideband, which is the standard mode for FM broadcast and Television band.
