Turbochef problem with door and magnetron blower

I bought used Turbochef Tornado, and there's some problems: The door fails selftest. It can't be adjusted, because the doors opposite surface isn't straight. It takes contact at the lower part at all the way, but at the higher part it makes contact only at corners. So the sides and center part of higher part isn't tight. What to do, du i have to grind it to straight, or use some kind of seal or what? Second problem is the magnetor blower. It wont stop before I take the plug out of socket. When I put socket back, the blower is stopped, and starts then when it's needed to. But it never stops by it own. What to do?

By the way, how does the oven recognise if the door isn't tight? Is there somekind sensor of airpressure or what?

  • Sean McKenna Jul 20, 2013

The oven does not have any kind of air pressure or anything like that. The door switches are simply out of alignment. That is the only way this oven know what the door is doing. It has 3 switches that are quite sensitive.

First aligning the doors on these ovens are a pain. In the service manual there is a whole chapter on doing this process. Contact turbochef and buy a manual for 30 bucks.
Second the mag fan should operate for 4 mins after the cook cycle has completed to continue cooling the mags down. If it goes longer than this then the control board chip needs updating or you have a bad mag fan relay.

SOURCE: F3 Mag Curr. on Turbochef Tornado

Hello. Interesting coincidence, but that error code is for the magnetron/microwave part of the toaster. You will need to have it serviced by someone familiar with the unit, it could be easy and reasonable, if just a fuse blew, but not likely. If the fuse blew, it is 20amps, so something took it out. Call turbo chef, they will get you to the closest servicer, may be able to help you on the phone.

SOURCE: Problems with TurboChef TORNADO Electric Oven f8

F8 means Heat rise low the oven failed to warm up in a predetermined time period. First check for problems with the blower and then check the high limit thermostat to see if its tripped. If these are okay call a repair tech because you will need to check the relays for problems

Could be the speed control PCB, or the motor, You need to test the impedence of the motor. You may have to replace both the motor and the PCB.

It's a service manual for the TurboChef NGC Tornado.

Pay particular attention to pages 15 through 19. It shows you how to edit menus and to reset everything.

Good luck!

4.You will be directing to an testing screen. At the bottom of thetesting screen there are many alphabets. In which you can see 'P' ,'S' and 'M' .
5.Open the door and watch what happened to alphabet 'P'.I meant to say that when door open alphabet will highlited ,and when closed its seems an regular 'P'
6.open door and close the door .And also keep an eye on the primary switch at the top left corner of the oven where the door latches engaged. If it engaged very nicely and you still see an highlited 'P' in the testing screen then REPLACE THE PRIMARY SWITCH OR IF SWITCH IS OKAY THEN CHEK THE WIRING UPTO MAIN BOARD.

Turbochef Tornado doesn't always heat food internally

you could have a problem with the microwave circuit. That would really be the only thing preventing the food from heating internally. I would call turbochef and call for warrenty service again. Is the bread comming out nice and toasty. If the blower for the convection circuit is weak or sticking this also cause the same effect of not properly cooked food.

So check microwave circuit and also check the blower.

Hope this helps if you need more in depth advice feel free to ask

My turbochef tornado gives an error messag of

this is simple to fix but usually costly sorry to say.

F1 blower means the motor is not running when commanded.

first check the motor and verify if it spins freely - if the motor does not spin freeely remove the obstruction or replace the blower part# NGC-1025
just to clarify its the big blower behind the cook chamber not the little fan in the electrical compartment.

F3 errors can indicate a mag problem. Check your fuses first, it can also be a door switch. If your fuses are good, you need to inspect the 2 magnetrons. If you have a burned tip on one the waveguide and waveguide cover will need to be replaced. I usually replace the entire system at a cost to the customer of $1500.00
