I read the explanation for the VCR hookup causing the lines. However, my JVC 42inch plasma has re-occuring vertical lines through every outlet of viewing...(ie DVD, regular tv, gaming station). This problem is on and off, and this just started occurring a few days ago, my tv is only about 2 years old.
The output freq of the vcr is sitting to close to an rf signal from a digi broadcast i guess, cross modulaion is the term.the rf can be moved away in freq to another bit of band width or if not using rf connection it can be switched off rf output altogether.find online vcr manual and find rf change section

Note
In some cases, there are minor defects in some parts of the screen. Points that do not light, points with
brightness different from that of the periphery, or points with color different from that of the periphery.
Some pixels will always be on or always off. Please note that this is not a malfunction. So what this says is that it's not the Plasma Cell problem, its more like a bad board inside. You will need more info like schematic and find out which area the bad part is in.

HI,
First thing to do is the reset and the whacking test. I give this a 50/50 chance of clearing it up.
ONE: Disconnect the power cord for 4 hours. Then when you power it back
up the internal soft codes will automatically reset to factory defaults.
TWO: The whacking test is to just bang or smack the set with your hand
on the back, side, top, etc., to see if there are loose connections or
cold solder joints inside that are acting up. If so, the banging should
knock them back to normal and the set should restore. You might have
to use some creative banging and some have had to put a book or
magazine under one corner to torque the chassis enough to get it to
work reliably.
If these two procedures do nothing then:
The manual always knows the best.Go through the manual carefully and u will find the solution to ur problem..
Goodluck and Kind Regards
Please Don't forget to rate me as fixya..
