Here is the tip to solve your problem. Hope this might be helpful to you.

OSD Lock—The OSD can be enabled or disabled by pressing and holding the Menu button on the front panel for 10 seconds. If the OSD is locked, the warning message “OSD Lock” displays for five seconds.

❏If the OSD is locked, press and hold the Menu button for 10 seconds to unlock the OSD.

COMPAQ W17Q MONITOR CANNOT UNLOCK OSD

Here is the link to the monitor manual:

If you can operate the OSD menu, try resetting.
I have noticed in the past that Compaq products have proprietary wiring schemes for their cabling. If you are using a VGA/SVGA cable (D-Sub) make sure that all the pins are present and wired. A pass through type cable will ensure that this is done.

No sound from speakers

Ok newer monitors come with a HDMI connector and would need a compatable HDMI video card that has the ability for sound. The older monitors have a 3mm plug like a head phone jack you can plug this directly into the GREEN portion of the sound card that is installed in your system!
