Question about Panasonic PT-56HX41 56" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Red convergence I'm having the same problem that was in the previous post about convergenc of the red beam. It is way off to the left and will only adjust so far to the right. I replaced one of the convergence chips that was marked red (the other one was marked blue) to no avail. Do both IC's have to be replaced to fix this, or do I have another problem?

I replaced the other convergence IC and the problem has shifted to the right side now (red won't adjust far enough to the left), and there is some bowing of the red cross-hairs on the convergence set up screen. What do you think is happening here? I have not replaced any resistors yet.

It could be the other IC as well as you are suppose to replace both at once! You see these ICs have three amps in each on X 2 =6 2 for red, 2 for green, and 2 for blue. There also might be small resistors near the IC's that are open. These are called fusable resistors. They are of a low value like around 1 to 3 ohms most of them.

Shows a red scream

try the auto focus if shows error then try to do it manually in convergence and make sure you align all colors. If still doesn't work, then you will have to have the convergencs chips replaced.. Approximately $250 repair cost..

My red, green and blue colors are off, needs to be convergenced

HI. there is a convergence circuit board that controls the rgb stream and it also is the principal manager of the colors. if you cannot collaborate the cross hairs or, even out the rgb, this will confirm convergence board failuer. the chip set on this board is faulty. Replacing the convergence board or stk chips will fix this issue.

you can go to menu, convergence adjustment. If you can not move the red or Blue hair cross. It is surely your TV Convergence chip(s) bad.

Convergence problem not fixed after replacing STKs

I found the chips easy to replace, but time-comsuming due to the number of pins involved. I woudn't want to try it if I'd not had prior experience with soldering.

Still no response to the original question though. With 2 replaced STK392s, red is still not moving in horizontal alignment. What gives?
