Many laptops accumulate dust inside the fan/heat exchanger assembly over several months or years, and must be removed in order for the laptop to properly cool itself. Depending on how much you use the laptop, it can happen in as little as a matter of months. You may want to ask a laptop repair place how much just to clean out the dust, and see if that works. Sometimes a cooling pad can help, especially if the laptop isn't already on a hard, flat surface.I actually keep my laptop on a small wooden board the same length & width as the laptop with a cooling pad on top of that, and the laptop on top of that, because I often want to set my laptop on my bed, which can smother the air circulation, and cause it to overheat quickly otherwise. Even when on a hard, flat surface, like a table or desk, if I am playing a game, I put it on the cooling pad because games cause the laptop components to generate a lot of heat, and this brand is somewhat notorious for overheating (especially when it has a discreet graphics card).

Sorry, I should clarify that MY laptop's brand is notorious for overheating, NOT the Lenovo brand.

Samsung dryer DV218AEB shuts off in middle of dry cycle - "dead" mode

This is a sign of a bad motor. There is an overload protector on the motor that when the motor overheats it shuts the motor down.

I have a YTH2448 Tractor that overheats

Although blockages in the shroud and cooling fins are the most common cause of overheating, a small gas engine can also overheat if the fuel-air mix is too lean. Are you sure the carb overhaul kit had the right parts, and is there any possible of adjusting the mixture? Here is a set of parts diagrams for your tractor - Engine-2 has the carburetor-related parts. Good luck!

The laptop has been in use for the past 10

It sounds like you have an overheating problem on the machine. You can try to blow the system clean but in many cases laptops need to be physically taken apart for a thorough cleaning.

Hi,

Have a look at your power options through control panel.

Set the computers display, hard drive to never turn off. also disable sleep mode.

If you have all these settings already set to this then whoever told you that the graphics card is overheating could be right.

The only other thing i could suggest is to update you display drivers through the manufacturers website.

Good luck.

Bought 6 months ago and will not boot up, with battrey out it will attempt to start for a couple of secs and then nothing

After 8 days of no life at all in the laptop , having 2 computer technicians around saying it was probably the motherboard and just about to send to Sony I pressed the power button and hey presto it worked again..Guess it was just sleeping or hibernating...after all it is spring now....Actually one guy of the many forums I have visited advised just to leave the Laptop alone and perhaps it would mend itself..and hey presto he was right, although having said that I have yet to turn the laptop off and startup again..HMMMMMMM...

Disable the fingerprint sensor on lenovo R61i

If you don't plan on using it anytime soon the easiest way is to just remove the software from the ADD / Remove Programs section in the Control Panel.

Let me know if you have any problems.

Laptop goes into permanent sleep mode, etc

If you can restart it and it starts up fine, then I would go into the power settings and disable sleep mode. Every computer is different on how to wake a sleeping computer, so you could read through your manuals and find out for yours, but I just disable sleep mode on all computers so i dont have to hassle with it.
