Kenwood KAC-9152D Car Amp

Ok my amp has been working fine till today and it just shuts off. I know the amp is fine because I replaced it with an amp that I know is perfect and it did the same thing. See my problem is I get no LED light to turn on until I take a jumper wire from the remote terminal and touch it to the power then It turns on for a couple secs and then fades away might you know what is causing this problem. I have 4gauge monster power and ground cables, remote wire and RCA jacks are from monster cable too.

Use a multimeter to check for power on the +ve wire, could be your fuse, it only rus a sec when you jumper the remote to +ve because the remote cannot give out the nessary current to run the amp.

I have a kenwood kac-9152d amplifer and it works just fine for about 10 minutes then just shuts off and subs dont work, about 30 seconds later my amp turns back on with the subs.

make sure it's well ventilated. If there's no air flow, then there is no way of cooling down and to protect itself it will shut off. Make sure the speakers are wired correctly as per amp specs. too many subs or subs connected improperly can draw too much current and shut the amp off, but you will notice this when you turn up the volume to a certain point and the amp shuts down.

I have a kenwood kac-9152d running a 10 inch rockford fosgate power t1 and the amp keeps going into protect but i have a smaller kenwood kac-8102d running on another t1 and i have no issues with it why...

either the wiring your running is short circuting,or the amp is shot, or the subwoofer is shot, try hooking the same speaker up to the other amp. along with the other speaker to the other amp, see if the same thing happens.

HAVE A KENWOOD AMP MODEL KAC-9102D . iT KEEPS SHUTTING OFF WHEN i TURN THE RADIO LOUD. ANY SUGGESTIONS

either bad ohm load or over heat if the ohs on the speaker wires to the amp are lower than specified use in the manual it will act funny cause it is pusing harder than its meant to and if it gets too hot either bad location or bad amp you can try turning the gain down a little until the amp stays on constantly at high volume

There could be several problems. The following page should help you determine if you have a problem with the amp or something connected to the amp.

The amp says it's 1 ohm stable, so assuming the DVCs are dual 4 ohm, you should be able to connect all "+"'s together and all "-"s together, like the picture below:

As for the amp shutting off for a few seconds, it sounds like it's either:
A) Not getting enough power at high volume.
OR
B) Overheating.

The cap on the +12V to the amp should help, but putting a meter on the +12V might tell you whether it's dropping too low (<11V).

When you first turn the volume up, how long does it work fine before shutting off? Is it with the vehicle running or not?

Kenwood kac 9152D

Usually, protection mode is caused by one of these conditions:
  • Shorted speaker outputs.
  • Speaker output shorted to ground.
  • There is an internal issue, causing DC voltage to be present on the speaker outputs.
  • Amp overheats.
  • Ground connection is insufficient for amp or HU.
I'm not sure of the history or symptoms of your amp, but those are the reasons why the amp could go into protection mode.

Kenwood KAC-9152D problem

It sounds to me like you may have burnt a trace off of the bottom of the circuit board inside the amplifier. If you know how take the amplifier apart and look carefully at the traces. To be clear the traces are the lines on the bottom of the circuit board not the component side. Look carefully they can sometimes be hard to spot. If you find one solder a jumper wire across the two points. If you take the amplifier apart take care in treatment of the output transisors along the sides.
