Dvd door The DVD/CD door will not open. It doesn't open when I push the button on the system or when I use the remote. Is there a way I can get it open without breaking it? Is this fixable? Thank you, Denise

The door is probably not opening due to the gear pulley either came loose that drives the door open closed or the little belt that goes on the pulley to the motor is broken. The (belt) can be replaced with a small 1& 1/16th X 1/16th oring.

I had the same problem. It started after I plugged a PS2 into the system using the A/V cable ports in the front. I discovered just by unplugging the cables the door opened again.

SOURCE: dvd door

In the user or instruction guide, there should be a way they show you how to open the tray door if a disc becomes stuck most of the time. if it does not then the unnits going to have to be taken apart, and if you havent a clue how it disassembles you could cause more problems. The units going to have to go into a repair shop because this is a solid state unit and its not a serviceable unit to a user.

I CAN NOT OPEN MY DELL INSPIRON 15 CD TRAY

Almost all cd and dvd or bluray drives have a manual way of opening. Usually it is a small opening to the right of the button to open the drive. Make sure the system is OFF to try this. Just straighten a paper clip and insert it in the opening and give it a small push. The door should manually slide open.

How to use a paper clip to open CD or DVD door

I have answered many questions about CD and DVD drives. One of the most common problems is "My CD door doesn't open"
This can be caused by several things but I am going to explain how to open the door manually.
To do this requires a small Paperclip. Straighten the paperclip. Find the small hole in the CD or DVD door. Gemtly insert the paperclip and push on the button inside. If the drive does not have a mechanical problem the door will open.

Dell cd drive door won't open

CD/DVD Drive Tray problems
There are two ways to open the CD/DVD drive door if the button just below the drive tray does not work.
Go to My Computer and right click on the drive and click on Eject.
If this does not work then you can manually open the CD/DVD drive tray by -
Straighten a paper clip and gently insert it into a tiny hole below the drive tray next to the Eject button. Push the paper clip gently until the drive tray pops out, then pull the tray until it is fully out, then you can remove the CD/DVD disc.
If you still having problem opening with the Eject button, then the CD/DVD drive is faulty and needs replacing.

CD DOOR WON'T OPEN

Just below the CD/DVD tray there is a tiny hole. Insert a straighten paper clip in this hole and gently push the paper clip until the CD/DVD tray pops out. You can now pull the tray out until it is in the fully opened position to remove the disc.
Try pushing the eject button to see if the tray closes, then push the eject button to see if the tray opens.
If this foes not work then the CD/DVD drive is faulty and it needs to be replaced.

Installed a new dvd burner for Hp computer. Running Windows XP. Installed Nero 8 Software. Door doesn't always open when button is pushed or after burning a dvd. Computer also has another cd/dvd drive....

it has to do with a new hardware installation process....check IDE cable that they are correctly connected and try to check system setup so that the CMOS identifies both, primary & secondary devices....if not, u need to install a driver for the newly installed one....
